View Full Version : George Bush is defenseless

Steve Savicki
09-14-2004, 04:08 PM
"Every incumbent seeking re-election needs to defend his/her record. But George Bush can't defend his record of exporting jobs, soaring health care costs, dangerous dependence on Middle East oil and a disastrous foreign policy. His campaign only has one strategy left: throw all their resources into a negative campaign spreading lies about John Kerry." -Mary Beth Cahill

Sad; desparate times call for desparate measures.

Heh heh heh...

If there ever were a case for "The Pot calling the Kettle Black" this is it.

I don't think I've heard anything but mudslinging eminating from the left (and their new savior) for 4 years now!

Oh well, I guess if being ahead by 10-12 points is considered desparation, Bush will gladly be in desparation.

The BCE is getting desperate.. And Uncle Dick, through his own recklessness in trying to slander the other side, has eliminated their ace in the hole.

By implying that electing Kerry would lead to another terrorist attack, Cheney was also implying that any terrorist attacks before the election would, by default, be blamed on the BCE. So there's one possibility removed from the "October Surprise" grab bag.

There...is..no..large..lead..in..polls.

They're up and down every day, most of them are Freeped, and they're rarely outside the "margin of error".

Aside from that, the ones that aren't internet based (which are entirely worthless) are based on the "likely voters", or the people who voted last time. And considering the 48.5 (Gore)/47.5 (Junior)/2(Nader) split from 2000, these numbers are hardly surprising.

However, what they DON'T take into account is anyone who skipped the last election.

I won't claim Kerry is their ideal candidate because he sure as fuck isn't mine. But like me, these people might just find 4 more years of a one party dictatorship to be more than this country can bear.

The majority of America doesn't view this country like you do, FORD. They don't sense an impending fascist rule by Dubya, because they know that the US Constitution would prohibit him from becoming the first King of the colonies since King George in 1776. The only way you libs can get people fired up to vote is to put the fear of God (and things that aren't true) into them, because you can't inspire the public with the party candidate, John F. Kerry.

And HOW did the US constitution prohibit that?

By setting up a system of checks and balances designed to ensure that all the power never ended up in the hands of one group of people.

However those checks and balances no longer exist. The Supreme Court chose this pResident and though the Congressional Black Congress did the right thing in trying to prevent it, not one Senator would stand up for them. And then a few months later, the majority of them voted for a bill which rendered half the bill of rights useless.

Where is the seperation of powers? Where are the checks and balances? Where is even a hint of critical thought from any politician in Washington DC.

Of the damn few with the balls to speak out, you give them names like "KKK Byrd" and "Baghdad Jim" never mind that these few are the only ones who are doing the goddamn jobs that their constituents elected them to do

Those hemp growing slave owners that we call the "founding fathers" are doing triple somersaults in their graves watching this criminal Fraudministration tear down everything America ever stood for.

I would guess the silence to be part and parcel to staying out of the political and social backwaters.

Honestly, I up and quit the Democratic party in 1992 because of this nonsense. I could see the direction things were heading and wanted no truck with it. What you have now is a dysfunctional social movement helmed by aging members of the spoiled rotten baby boom. Pseudo-intellectual foolishness mixed with a sense of entitlement and carefully choreographed outrage.

In short, a bunch of balding drama queens.

Come on Ford you know better than that, only internet polls could be Freeped, the major polls such as Gallup, Newseek, and Time are phone polls.

The phone polls were what I was referring to when I said "likely voters" i.e. phone lists which are somehow generated from those registered to vote in 2000. And as I said, such polls go by the results of the last election, but don't count other eligible voters who sat that one out for whatever reason.

In terms of real numbers (i.e the actual eligible voters), Junior only got less than 24% of those votes, where as Gore got slightly more than that.

Most of those who skipped the election entirely last time did so because they thought both major parties were too far to the right for them. Junior cannot possibly tap into that vote. With the Supreme Court and the environment at risk, Kerry could very easily tap into a good portion of it. These polls have no way of accounting for that factor, because it's not in the demographic that Gallup and the others are using.

Don't be an idiot. Lists of registered voters aren't exactly top secret. How else do you think all that political junk mail got in your mailbox, addressed to your full name, as it's listed on your voter registration.

If you didn't vote last election, there's a chance you might not in this one. They are polling likely voters who have a record of actually voting. Makes perfect sense to the sane.

As I said, the damage Bush Jr has done to the environment, and could do to the Supreme Court are motivating factors that didn't exist in 2000. (they should have, but Junior lied and said he was "compassionate")

Those 2 reasons have already siphoned off much of Ralphie's former voters, and it's likely that Greens, socialists, and the non voters might climb aboard for that reason.

Right wing obstainers have no motivation though. Libetrtarians and traditional conservatives can't abide Junior's spending or wars of imperialism. I'm actually disappointed Pat Buchanan didn't run :(

Do Mennonites and Amish vote? I'm assuming they would NOT use a Diebold machine, but then, neither would I.

As for the Montana "freemen" types - that's another right wing population who probably won't be supporting Junior.

We agree on the voting machine stuff, then.

Damned stupid idea.

No way to make it secure. Anyone who designs software will tell you that too if they are honest.

The freeman types have sanity issues. I wouldn't call them right-wing though. They're off in an entirely different trajectory. I'm just glad it leads them to live in shacks and stay out of everyone's way.

FORD, any election can have an effect on the Supreme Court. Any of those judges could keel over at any time. The only people in this country that are fired up about the Supreme Court nominees are either gay or abortion rights activists.

Despite your rants, the Reagan appointees to the Court have voted with a liberal bent many times, so this crap that he'll appoint hard core conservatives doesn't fly.
