Excellent. Thanks. We hate the off season. But we aim to make it as painless as possible with loads of news, rumors, mock drafts, original articles, etc.

Damn, that sounded like a shameless plug didn't it.

POJO_Risin
01-27-2004, 07:29 PM
Keep 'em coming...you'll see come season time that it will get a lot of play from the people here...

and we can hook up your leagues in other areas...we'll have a hockey, hoop and a baseball league...

ALinChainz
01-27-2004, 07:35 PM
Sounds good. Currently our focus is the 2004 NFL Draft and getting started on posting some baseball previews as we speak.

We play em all too (hockey, hoop, baseball).

Not always well, but we give it hell.

POJO_Risin

Anytime you get an itch to sound off on a sports topic or sports figure, we can set you up with a blog so you can write and post an article at your leisure, whenever. It posts to the site so you don't have to bother with emailing it to us. Go ahead and post it, and then maybe a post on the forums there that you have a new article up. You can be as often as you like, whenever, whatever.

ALinChainz

We are full bore on the 2004 NFL Draft at our site. Although April 24-25 is still a ways away, it's never too late to gear up for it.

Come get signed up for our forums and check it out.

Thanks.

I signed up but it never emailed me my password.

ALinChainz
01-30-2004, 06:32 PM
I don't get it, it says youre the newest member too. If you like, send me a prviate message of what you want and I'll fix it.

ALinChainz
01-30-2004, 06:37 PM
I think what happens is because it is an automated email, that some spam guards delete it of dump it into your "bulk" mail" or "junk mail".

PO_JO didn't have a problem, but have had a couple other people here lately that had the same problem.

Let me know.

Troy
01-30-2004, 07:27 PM
I get every piece of spam known to man. I checked my email through the my providers website and it wasn't in the junk folders. I'll try something else.

ALinChainz
01-30-2004, 07:28 PM
I could set you up a temp one, then you could log in and change it.

Troy
01-30-2004, 07:30 PM
That's fine!

ALinChainz
01-30-2004, 07:46 PM
I sent you a private message with your temp password, you should be all set.

Troy

Thanks!

POJO_Risin
01-30-2004, 10:16 PM
Do that Chainz...I'll start rollin' with shit about the draft...

What's the angle there bro...straight...this is what's going to happen with the draft...or this is how the draft will help fantasy shit...

I'm guessing straight draft...

do you want commentary...or this is what's going to happen...

Let me know...

ALinChainz
01-30-2004, 10:57 PM
Think up a name for what your column would be called if you like (you want it to be something about the Army or whatever). Any angle you want about any sports topic you want. Absolutely rip someone, praise someone, you can write about fantasy sports, sports in general, something you like, something you hate, free reign. We'll get a blog set up for you and you can write as often as you like, or as little as you like, whatever you may have time for.

Let me know.

POJO_Risin
01-30-2004, 11:04 PM
Alright bro...I'll think of a name and shit...and let you know...

I'll probably do something once or twice a week...depends on school and shit like that...

I love tearing the shit out of people...but we'll see what happens...lmfao...

ALinChainz
01-30-2004, 11:17 PM
Sounds good, looking forward to it. We send out a newsletter periodically and will have a link on the main site so your stuff can be accessed easily for everyone.

Greatly appreciated too. Original content, especially during the NFL off season is always a plus.

POJO_Risin
01-30-2004, 11:36 PM
Well...if you can't tell...I follow sports a bit...lmfao...

I wrote a column every week for three years in our college paper...the first year...I didn't have a choice...and they called the shit...Pete's Bog...fucking hated the name...but they wouldn't change the shit...

after the first year...and I got the assistant sports editor gig...lmfao...which equated to nothing...I changed the name to Fear and Loathing in Sports...in ode to Hunter S. Thompson...and essentially ranted every week about something...

ALinChainz
01-30-2004, 11:46 PM
I got that idea reading your posts here that you were into sports serious. And you won't be locked down to one sport or topic so the diversity will be great.

When you settle on something, PM me here with an email addy and we will set you up. You gotta love the blog system and being able to post to your column from anywhere.

POJO_Risin
01-30-2004, 11:50 PM

POJO_Risin
01-31-2004, 01:17 AM
Here's another...

Jimbo getting pissed and pointing...

POJO_Risin
01-31-2004, 01:17 AM
And of course...

El Guapo himself...

Troy
01-31-2004, 01:25 AM
Why Did Rome start calling him Chris anyway?

Was it because he played like a lesbian?

POJO_Risin
01-31-2004, 01:45 AM
I don't think he ever said...

You know Romey though...he probably just rubbed him the wrong way...

Troy
01-31-2004, 01:48 AM
They didn't even really talk about anything did they? I think Jim just brought Chris on to call him Chris.

Talk about a mediocre QB.

POJO_Risin
01-31-2004, 02:04 AM
Well...he's from Purdue...what do you expect...

he had a couple of exceptional years though...didn't he?

Troy
01-31-2004, 02:07 AM
I'm going to find out...

Troy
01-31-2004, 02:12 AM
Chris Everett career stats (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/EverJi00.htm)

I guess he was okay. Only one pro bowl though.

POJO_Risin
01-31-2004, 02:13 AM
It Looks like he had five exceptional years to me...;)

4,000 one year...and nearly 4,000 four other times...203 td's to 175 picks...not bad...

Troy
01-31-2004, 02:16 AM
You gotta wonder why the Rams gave up on him though. Even NO... Brooks wasn't around then was he?

POJO_Risin
01-31-2004, 02:24 AM
Jesus Christ....No...the Saints...it was after Hebert...

I think they dealt for Heath Shuler from Washington that year...Mike Ditka's first year...

Troy
01-31-2004, 02:26 AM
This was a real QB!

Randall Cunningham (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/CunnRa00.htm)

POJO_Risin
01-31-2004, 02:43 AM
You know...his yardage wasn't that impressive...if you don't count the rushing...christ...he almost rushed for 1,000 yards one year...

Troy
01-31-2004, 02:44 AM
I think he was #3 in rushing that year.

Troy
01-31-2004, 02:45 AM
Check out Marino's rushing stats!

Dan Marino (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/MariDa00.htm)

Troy
01-31-2004, 02:49 AM
420 TD's... Holy crap!

POJO_Risin
01-31-2004, 02:59 AM
Alright man...I'm out...the bell just freakin' tolled 3 Bells...I need my beauty sleep...

laterz...

Troy
01-31-2004, 03:00 AM
Late.

POJO_Risin
01-31-2004, 05:23 PM
420 TD's is a lot of TD's...21 years of 20 fucking TD's a year...

that IS a lot of fucking TD's...

Troy
01-31-2004, 07:39 PM
I'd be curious as to how many rushing TD's the dolphins had through Marino's career compared with the 420 TD's he threw.

You're right though, that's a lot of TD's. Will anybody break that?

Maybe Manning?

ALinChainz
01-31-2004, 07:58 PM
Here are the Top 10 of all time.

1. Dan Marino 420
2. Brett Favre (Active) 350
3. Fran Tarkenton 342
4. John Elway 300
5. Warren Moon 291
6. Johnny Unitas 290
7. Joe Montana 273
8. Dave Krieg 261
9. Sonny Jurgensen 255
10. Dan Fouts 254

At the rate Manning is going, could happen.

POJO_Risin
02-01-2004, 01:27 AM
I don't see Favre playing long enough to do it...Manning could do it...he's still young...and as long as he has Harrison there...they oughta make a run...but I think you'll see 420 last a long time...I mean averaging 20 over that period is pretty impressive...

ALinChainz
02-01-2004, 10:49 AM
Threw fo 20 TDs in 11 games (9 starts) as a rookie in '83. Threw for 20+ TDs in 13 of 17 seasons, including the first 10 seasons of his career. Led the NFL 3 straight seasons (84, 85, 86) with 48, 30, and 44.

He'll be a first ballot HOF like Elway.

Troy
02-01-2004, 04:12 PM
If he doesn't get in on the first ballot, they'll have to close the hall

POJO_Risin
02-01-2004, 07:15 PM
And to think the only reason people don't universally say he's the best qb is because of not having a title...

He was his own worst enemy because of his passing ability...they never had a decent running game...well...consistent anyways...

Troy
02-01-2004, 09:42 PM
Do you think the Dolphins purposely chose not to go after RB's because they thought Marino could win it all himself?

ALinChainz
02-01-2004, 11:13 PM
Just don't think they deemed it as important because when you have Marino, you're not going to be a ground chuck team anyways. They must have figured that anything the running game brought them was gravy.

Fantasy Sports Freaks!

Been hammering away on the website and have new and improved just every freakin' place. Menus, scoreboards, etc.

Drafts from NFL and NBA, as far back as they go.

New scorebaords are up for the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB.

Found a nice feature for a scorebaord, matchups, odds, ratings, standings, and articles on NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, college basketball and football, CFL, WNBA, and AFL. Can be found by going to schedule or standings under the drop down menus. Click on the team to find their schedule.

Updated our blogs, spending more time making it all better than actually writing anything, but all well worth the time.

Doing some individual team headlines at the moment, starting with football and will have every team of the 4 majors when its done.

My brother always says, got a blog with your name on it.

POJO_Risin

ALinChainz
06-22-2004, 06:30 PM
Appreciate it. Lots of hits. Lots of search engine. just not many speaking out. Changed so you have to register to read, etc.

Just figure that between the time of year, my brother has changed message boards like twice (I told him one more time, I'm killing him), and that we were part of a friend of ours sports site (we finally said, this sucks, let's do our own), we are slowly getting there.

Been up now about 9 months.

POJO_Risin
06-22-2004, 06:33 PM
Well...what you need sounds simple...

You need people that will be there a lot...to splurge in the forums...

what you oughta do is put in about 30 or so dummy questions in each forum...

who to trade shit...and reply...with answers...and see what happens...

one thing people like is a site they can goto and get some fantasy advice...

you get a good following there...and it will explode...

ALinChainz
06-22-2004, 06:55 PM
Haven't posed many questions I guess, lots o news though, shit load.

Maybe a few more polls and questions, but felt like we've been there with every answer.

Our Dynasty leagues will bring those owners in who arent active, we though the carry over from our group would be better, but we touted the football only, and now the off season so figured that had a lot to do with it slowing down.

Here is a site that might interest you, and its free, for your league at home, http://www.cosg.net/ff/

POJO_Risin
06-23-2004, 12:07 AM
Well...I'm not sure what traffic you are looking for...but if you can get a solid core who are in leagues...you can get one bigass flow...and it doesn't take much...

I've got an old contact with an old fantasy site I was part of that I'm going to chat with...and I'll hop over there and make some posts about this site...he may say no though...

I'll let you know...

ALinChainz
06-24-2004, 02:32 PM
We are hooking up with that free fantasy site I was posting about, better site than I thought, free league managing.

Conventional wisdom says that in order to be successful in fantasy football you must use your first two draft picks on running backs, no matter what. But last season should force us to rethink the old standard. No, we aren't going to argue against having two high-quality backs on your roster. What we're saying, though, is 2003 proved you could find your No. 2 back somewhere other than the second round.

The waiver wire provided stellar midseason options in Rudi Johnson and Domanick Davis. Also, Kevan Barlow and Brian Westbrook emerged from committee situations to star as No. 2 fantasy backs. Let us not forget goal-line gurus such as T.J. Duckett and Correll Buckhalter, who had moments in the sun, too. Jacksonville's Fred Taylor provided a nice comeback story.

With a little extra planning, some educated gambles that pay off and waiver-wire vigilance, it's possible to win your league without tying yourself to the popular two-backs-first philosophy. And with the freedom to select the best available player with your picks, you can be quickly on your way to building a fantasy powerhouse.

Knowing what's available at running back is the first step to freeing up your options and helping you feel confident in your decisions, whether you wait to grab a No. 2 back.

STUD SHED

With a record 27 touchdown runs in 2003, Priest Holmes made a lot of No. 2 fantasy backs look good. Because Holmes can carry a middling roster to greatness, it's essential that he be at the top of your wish list. Coach Dick Vermeil's penchant for riding his marquee backs -- Wilbert Montgomery, Marshall Faulk and now Holmes -- makes Holmes a multifaceted threat without peer.

Unless, of course, the peer is San Diego's LaDainian Tomlinson. L.T. can do everything Holmes can, and he is nearly six years younger, something to consider in keeper leagues. In 2003, Tomlinson took his game to new heights, too, by adding a career-high 725 receiving yards to an impressive rushing total. But L.T. tends to get fewer red-zone chances than other top-notch backs because of the Chargers' lack of talent surrounding him.

Green Bay's Ahman Green doesn't have that problem. With Brett Favre in the same backfield, Green owners never have to worry about an imbalanced offense. What's even better about Green is he surpassed Favre in fantasy importance last season. Favre was super, but his receivers weren't, and coach Mike Sherman must have noticed. Green had plenty of chances en route to 2,250 total yards and 20 TDs, and he should be the focal point of the offense this season, too.

Seattle's Shaun Alexander is another back surrounded by a bevy of talent, but his consistency over his first four seasons has been his best asset. You can count on Alexander to get you 1,300-1,400 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns. This could be his best season because he still has room to improve and the Seahawks have enough talent to win the NFC West.

New Orleans' Deuce McAllister faded toward the end of last season because of a knee injury, and he didn't score enough touchdowns. But before that, his nine consecutive 100-yard games proved he could succeed despite the fortunes of the Saints, who finished 8-8. McAllister also became an effective receiver, and he is a young player on the rise. Expect him to continue his upward trend.

Clinton Portis and Jamal Lewis both are potentially dominating No. 1s, but there are questions about them, dropping them to this level.

The Redskins will feature Portis in Joe Gibbs' run-first attack, but Washington's line needs time to jell before it can be discussed in the same breath as Denver's. A season-ending injury to right tackle Jon Jansen didn't help. Still, Portis is a no-brainer at No. 6 because he has been an explosive talent in his first two seasons.

A federal indictment on drug charges threatens to interrupt Lewis' season, though his lawyers are asking that the trial be held after the season. If Lewis must miss time -- some reports say the trial could last two weeks -- Musa Smith or Chester Taylor could wind up sharing the load in Baltimore.

It's important to consider a backup plan if you draft Lewis -- and not necessarily Smith or Taylor. Lewis is a special talent who was able to overcome the Ravens' lack of offensive balance. We can't be sure Smith or Taylor can do the same.

DRAFT STRATEGY

It's unnecessary to use your first two picks on running backs, but it is preferable to grab two starters in the first three or four rounds. If you wait beyond that, the pickings get slim, and you'll be left to scour waiver wires and make tough lineup calls.

SECOND HELPINGS

The following backs are No. 1-worthy, but they lag behind the studs.

Edgerrin James should score plenty in Indianapolis' potent attack, but his injury history is still a concern. His knee was fine last season, but a back injury cost him time.

Jacksonville's Fred Taylor shook the injury label last season, but youngsters LaBrandon Toefield and Greg Jones are nipping at his heels. Jones could take away some goal-line carries.

Marshall Faulk is still valuable in touchdown leagues, but he hasn't topped 1,000 yards since 2001. Also, St. Louis drafted Steven Jackson in the first round for a reason -- Faulk's body is wearing down.

Stephen Davis kept rumbling even without the Redskins, but DeShaun Foster flashed his talent, too. Now the Panthers have the option of resting the 30-year-old Davis when necessary.

Buffalo's Travis Henry showed superior toughness by playing through rib and foot injuries last season, but Willis McGahee should get a chance to show his stuff in a limited role.

Corey Dillon gets a big upgrade moving to New England, but he needs to shake the injury bug and lose the attitude problems to fit in with the team-first Patriots.

BEST BACKUPS

Get one of these guys as your No. 2 back, and it won't matter if your No. 1 has a few blemishes.

Domanick Davis is a unique running-receiving threat for the Texans. And with wideout Andre Johnson and QB David Carr coming into their own, Houston could have the "Triplets" of the future.

Provided he can rebound from a triceps injury, the Eagles' Brian Westbrook will be valuable, especially in touchdown leagues. No other back in his class is a threat to score running, receiving and returning kicks.

Kevan Barlow and Rudi Johnson will be counted on heavily this season in San Francisco and Cincinnati, respectively, because their passing games have question marks. An increase in playing time should do wonders for two backs who were successful despite sharing roles with veterans last season.

COMMITTEE CITY

The best strategy when you're picking from a committee is to draft a pair of players from the same team and see who ends up winning the job.

In Minnesota, Michael Bennett, Onterrio Smith and Moe Williams all have the potential to score in a high-powered offense led by Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss. Bennett and Williams appear to be the best options, with Bennett being the yardage guy and Williams being the goal-line threat. Smith was effective in Bennett's place last season and has plenty of talent, but he has no defined role.

The rest of the committee situations have a similar look: a power back, who will get some goal-line carries, and a slashing-type back, who will get some yards. Power men include Chicago's Anthony Thomas, Oakland's Tyrone Wheatley, Pittsburgh's Jerome Bettis, Tampa Bay's Mike Alstott and Atlanta's T.J. Duckett. Their respective slashers are Thomas Jones, Justin Fargas, Duce Staley, Charlie Garner/Michael Pittman and Warrick Dunn. The best No. 3 fantasy backs from the lists: Jones, Wheatley, Staley, Garner and Duckett.

NEW YORK CITY

Much has been made of Tiki Barber's fumbling problems, and he definitely will be under coach Tom Coughlin's watchful eye. But it was the lack of touchdowns last season that hurt Barber owners the most, and he'll struggle to improve his scoring numbers after the Giants dumped QB Kerry Collins in favor of rookie Eli Manning or veteran Kurt Warner. It's also a bit concerning that Coughlin is so eager to give Ron Dayne a second chance.

Meanwhile, Curtis Martin had the same problem scoring last season. He racked up some decent yardage but suffered along with the Jets, who were without Chad Pennington for most of the season. Expect Martin's numbers to rebound with a full season of Pennington, but Martin still isn't much more than a No. 3 back because of the mileage on those 31-year-old legs.

FIVE TO GRAB

1. Rudi Johnson, Bengals. Cincinnati needs Rudi now more than ever, as it gets ready to educate Carson Palmer.
2. Broncos winner. Among the serious candidates are Quentin Griffin, Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell. The winner is likely to rush for 1,000 yards. Griffin is leading the race.
3. Chris Brown, Titans. He showed in the playoffs that he is ready to assume the role once held by Eddie George.
4. Onterrio Smith, Vikings. He could take carries from Williams and will rumble if Bennett gets hurt. He also could get traded into a feature role.
5. Thomas Jones, Bears. He is just the type of running-receiving threat the new coaching regime prefers in Chicago.

FIVE TO AVOID

1. Troy Hambrick, Raiders. The only thing he proved last season was that the Cowboys needed to draft Julius Jones, and he needed a ticket out of town.
2. Anthony Thomas, Bears. He lacks the receiving skills the coaching staff prefers in its backs.
3. Michael Pittman, Buccaneers. Jail time won't help him get a head start in the competition with Charlie Garner, and neither will Garner's previous success under coach Jon Gruden.
4. Jerome Bettis, Steelers. It's time to use your Bus pass.
5. Garrison Hearst, Broncos. He appears to be just an insurance policy in case Denver's other options fail.

SMART MONEY

On the rise: Domanick Davis, Texans
On the decline: Marshall Faulk, Rams
Primed for a comeback: Corey Dillon, Patriots
Biggest risk/reward: Michael Bennett, Vikings
Top goal-line threat: T.J. Duckett, Falcons
Will succeed with new team: Thomas Jones, Bears
Will struggle with new team: Duce Staley, Steelers
Top rookie: Kevin Jones, Lions.

SportsTicker Staff Writer

BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) - Wide receivers are to fantasy football what outfielders are to fantasy baseball. In other words, there are plenty of good ones, and you do not have to draft any in the first round.

And if there were not already enough receivers with 1,000-yard seasons and 10-TD years to their credit, now the NFL has been bombarded by possibly the deepest rookie crop of pass catchers in its history. Every NFL team seems to have two quality receivers, and many have three. Because of this, you should worry more about taking running backs and quarterbacks in the early rounds of your fantasy drafts, since there is so much depth at the position.

Here are the top 50 wide receivers in fantasy football coming into the 2004 season, starting with Minnesota's main man:

1. Randy Moss, Vikings: Moss led all receivers with 17 touchdowns in 2003. Thank goodness they abolished the "Randy Ratio," huh? His cranky back sounds like it will not interfere with him being tops at the position once again.

2. Marvin Harrison, Colts: If you like receivers who catch 100 passes for 1,300 yards and double digits touchdowns every season, then you will like this guy. If not, you can always draft Antonio Bryant.

3. Torry Holt, Rams: Holt was numero uno among receivers last year with 117 receptions and 1,696 yards, and offensive winderkind Mike Martz does not sound like he is going to turn St. Louis into a wishbone team anytime soon.

4. Terrell Owens, Eagles: Hopefully T.O. can stop yapping long enough to catch a ton of passes from Donovan McNabb this season in Philly.

5. Hines Ward, Steelers: Give Ward, the best blocking receiver in football, credit for transforming into one of the most dangerous pass catchers as well, especially when he has to try and grab Tommy Maddox's wounded ducks in Pittsburgh's chilly weather.

6. Chad Johnson, Bengals: His 1,355 yards and 10 TDs in 2003 helped make Jon Kitna look like Johnny Unitas. Let's pray Johnson can work the same magic for Carson Palmer.

7. Santana Moss, Jets: It is amazing what this little firebug can do when he is healthy. Moss and Chad Pennington seem to share the same brain when they are on their games.

8. Derrick Mason, Titans: With Eddie George, Frank Wycheck and Justin McCareins no longer in Steve McNair's picture, ballhawk Mason will be more of a focal point in Tennessee's offense.

9. Peerless Price, Falcons: Price has all the ability in the world, but it was proven last season that if Michael Vick is not throwing him the ball, Price will disappear faster than the appetite of a vegetarian at a meat packing plant. With Vick healthy, Price's fantasy value should be healthy.

10. Joe Horn, Saints: He had 973 receiving yards and 10 scores last season even though he was hampered by a knee injury the entire second-half of the season. Staying injury free might mean seeing Horn using his cell phone in the end zone a lot more.

The rest of the top 50:

11. Andre Johnson, Texans: Most receivers need to get a year under their belts before they become superstars, but Johnson had 976 yards in his rookie campaign, so he is ahead of the curve.

12. Laveraneus Coles, Redskins: He still sounds like he is being dogged by foot problems, and losing the Fun N' Gun offense will not help his fantasy value.

13. Darrell Jackson, Seahawks: If he did not drop a pass per game he would easily make it into the top 10.

14. Chris Chambers, Dolphins: Ricky Williams retired and David Boston tore up his knee, so Miami has no choice but to pepper Chambers with passes.

15. Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals: This kid will be a terror in the red zone because of his leaping ability and sticky hands.

16. Eric Moulds, Bills: Drew Bledsoe cannot be so inaccurate with his passes two years in a row, can he?

17. Steve Smith, Panthers: This speedster has gone from being a kick return specialist to a 1,000-yard receiver.

18. Charles Rogers, Lions: A broken collarbone cut short a promising rookie season for the Michigan State product. Do not forget about how talented he is and how great he can be.

19. Javon Walker, Packers: Brett Favre's favorite target downfield is primed to reach the 1,000-yard plateau.

20. Jerry Porter, Raiders: Thankfully Tim Brown is gone so Porter can play every down and reach his potential.

21. Plaxico Burress, Steelers: Personal problems, issues with management and an underwhelming 2003 season cast a dark cloud over him.

22. Koren Robinson, Seahawks: He can rack up yards but only has 10 touchdowns in his first three NFL seasons.

23. Anquan Boldin, Cardinals: Knee surgery may sideline last season's best fantasy rookie for the first couple weeks of the season.

24. Amani Toomer, Giants: Jeremy Shockey makes all the noise, but Toomer is the Giant with five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.

25. Jimmy Smith, Jaguars: His best days are behind but he could still give fantasy owners a 1,000-yard effort.

26. Isaac Bruce, Rams: His receiving yards have gone down in each of the past three seasons.

27. Marty Booker, Bears: Kordell Stewart could not hit the broadside of "Refrigerator" Perry last year, let alone Booker. Rex Grossman should get the ball to Booker more often.

28. Ashley Lelie, Broncos: He better step up or Mike Shanahan will demote him to the Colorado Rockies.

29. Reggie Wayne, Colts: Might we see more Wayne, less Harrison in Indy this year? Probably not.

30. Justin McCareins, Jets: He will catch more balls as the No. 2 receiver with the Jets than he did as the No. 2 receiver with the Titans.

31. Peter Warrick, Bengals: Hard to rank Warrick much higher when he has never made it to the 900-yard mark in four seasons.

32. Rod Smith, Broncos: This old man will be looked at to catch even more short passes now that Ed McCaffrey has called it a career.

33. Roy Williams, Lions: Williams and Rogers have the potential to be the next Swann and Stallworth if everything pans out right.

34. Keyshawn Johnson, Cowboys: Being reunited with Bill Parcells and Vinny Testaverde can only mean good things for Key.

35. Rod Gardner, Redskins: Maybe Joe Gibbs can light a fire under Gardner where Steve Spurrier could not.

36. Donald Driver, Packers: He never looked 100 percent after suffering a neck injury in the first game of last season.

37. Keenan McCardell, Buccaneers: He is not getting any younger, and contract problems also are getting in the way.

38. Donte Stallworth, Saints: Mr. Hamstring keeps hamstringing fantasy owners with how he gets hurt all the time.

39. Drew Bennett, Titans: This possession receiver will fight it out with upstart Tyrone Calico for the No. 2 slot behind Mason now that McCareins is gone.

40. Reggie Williams, Jaguars: Jacksonville loves this rookie's size and big-play ability. Look for a lot of YAC (yards after catch) from him.

41. Dennis Northcutt, Browns: After an offseason soap opera worthy of a daytime Emmy, Northcutt is back with the Browns.

42. Rashaun Woods, 49ers: This rookie from Oklahoma State gets to fill Terrell Owens' shoes. Lucky guy.

43. Kevin Johnson, Ravens: If he is the No. 1 receiver on an NFL team, that team has a problem.

44. Brandon Lloyd, 49ers: Could be a dark horse because the Niners will be throwing a lot late in games because they will be trailing most of the time.

45. Dante Hall, Chiefs: He is not a starting receiver but his special teams touchdowns alone make him worthy of a late-round pick.

46. Ike Hilliard, Giants: He never plays a full season, so he never gets more than 800 yards.

47. Michael Clayton, Buccaneers: Tampa Bay is desperate for a lethal receiver. Clayton might fit the bill.

48. Eddie Kennison, Chiefs: Didn't he retire three years ago?

49. Joey Galloway, Buccaneers: Galloway for Keyshawn? Bad trade for the Bucs.

50. Muhsin Muhammad, Panthers: He has two 1.000-yard seasons on his rsum. Too bad they were in 1999 and 2000.

When to Draft a Defensive Team

by Mark Mihalko, KFFL
Friday August 13, 2004

Selecting a defense for your fantasy franchise can be one of the most important and underrated parts of any fantasy football draft. Deciding when to pull the trigger on a defense is a tough question. There are many schools of thought on this topic with no clear cut answer.

So when should you start looking to draft a defense for your fantasy lineup?

In most cases it depends solely on your league make-up and the scoring system in place. In some cases you can wait until the latter portion of the draft to address this need. But if you wait too long to take a defense, you may be losing some valuable production on your roster.

One of the most common strategies on drafting a defense is "get them early." In this strategy owners usually draft a kicker around the seventh round in their draft. While defenses are important to an owner's championship aspiration, they do not warrant an extremely high selection. No defense should be selected prior to having your core skill position players in place. Using this thinking the seventh round is when the first defense should be picked. By picking a defense early, you pretty much assure yourself an elite unit. Of course, by doing so, you deny yourself players at other positions, which could hurt the depth of your team. So as an owner you must be confident on the selections you made earlier in the draft.

As fantasy football changes many leagues are applying more emphasis on defensive scoring. If you are in a league that rewards defensive prowess, having an elite unit on your roster can earn valuable points in your quest for a championship.

Another theory that owners use is a "pick them later" approach. For some owners selecting a defense as early as the seventh round is too soon. An owner following this strategy is usually caught up in "the run" that will occur when the first few defenses come off of the board. Usually by the 11th round in your draft the top-tier defenses are gone. However, there are still quality defenses available for you. When using the "pick them later" strategy you do not want to wait forever to draft your defensive team, since this could cost you in the standings. Use a pick between the 11th and 13th rounds to select your defense.

Using this strategy should allow you to draft a solid defense on your own terms. Owners tend to get caught up in "runs" on a particular position and panic. When you decide on a strategy, stick to it! One of the worst things that can happen to you during the draft is panicking. If you follow your draft board you should draft a solid team.

One of the final draft strategies out there is the "draft them last" approach. Some owners totally discount the importance of owning a solid fantasy defense and fill their roster with position players for depth. Usually owners that utilize this strategy wait until their final pick to select their defense. While there may be few differences in the value of a defense once the elite units are taken, by waiting until the end of the draft you are taking a risk on a lower ranked unit.

While there is often a defense that slips through the cracks and is dangling on the waiver wire, this is not always the case. By waiting until the end of the draft to take a defense you could cost yourself some valuable points or even victories in your league, which in the end could come back to haunt you.

Since there is no perfect place to draft a defense, you, the owner must make the call. If you feel like your draft has been solid and your league rewards defensive teams, feel free to take a defense early. Your ability to draft the best core of skill position players will help you decide what strategy is best for you.

Now that we have looked at the strategies on when to draft a defense, let's cover what you should look for in a defense.

One of the first elements of a defense that should be taken into account when stacking your draft board is your scoring system. In some leagues sacks and turnovers are weighted higher than scoring defense. In other leagues special teams play a huge role in the scoring breakdown. Understanding your league and the scoring system is probably the most important aspect in stacking your draft board.

Another factor that can be just as important to your franchise is a team's division and their strength of schedule. A team's schedule, especially weeks 13 through 17 of the NFL season, can be a huge factor in making your selection. Many fantasy championships are won in weeks 13 through 17 of the NFL season and defenses can play a big part in your triumph.

One other area which should not be overlooked is additions and subtractions to a team. For example, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had one of the higher ranked fantasy defenses over the past few seasons. However, during the 2004 offseason they lost starters SS John Lynch and DT Warren Sapp to free agency. Will they still be one of the elite units in the NFL? We may not find out until the season opens. However, with their solid "Cover 2" system in place, they should come close to maintaining their ranking. When stacking your draft board you should evaluate the team on their make-up today, not their historical make-up. Ranking a team on name recognition and not production can lead to disaster on draft day.

If you have made a decision to target a specific defense, make sure you have a back-up plan in place just in case your team is selected. If you have to draft your back-up, make sure you get proper value for your selection. One of the worst things you could do is reach for a defense just because your target is gone. If your alternative defense is rated a round below your target, wait and take it then. If you maintain your flexibility throughout draft day you should be successful.

While selecting a defense may not be as important as drafting a solid running back or even a kicker, it can help lead you to the "Promised Land" at the end of the season. Every owner builds his team with a championship in mind and a solid defense is a key ingredient to that end. As we inch closer to the start of another fantasy football season, remember it is better to start the "run" then be caught up in it.

Cowboys: Glenn frustrated by injury

by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com
Monday, October 25, 2004

News
Cowboys wide receiver Terry Glenn hoped for a big game in Lambeau Field, the turf he called home in 2002. Instead, Glenn left Sunday's game after spraining his right foot in the first quarter. "I tried to plant my foot, and I knew that there was something wrong," he told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "[The losses] are all frustrating. This one may have been a bit more difficult for the simple fact that I played here...I feel like I let the team down today. I put this on my shoulders." Glenn will be re-examined on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.

Views
Head coach Bill Parcells will likely address this injury in his Monday afternoon press conference, although there's a good chance he'll try to reveal as little as possible. We'll let you know when more information is available. For now, consider Glenn questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions.

Eagles: Westbrook to be examined on Monday

by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com
Monday, October 25, 2004

News
Eagles running back Brian Westbrook suffered a chest contusion in Sunday's game against the Browns. He left the game in the third quarter and did not return. Westbrook will be re-examined on Monday to determine the extent of the injury. The Philadelphia Daily News reported that the initial feeling following the game was that the ailment is not too serious.

Views
The struggling Eagles running game certainly can't afford to lose Westbrook for any length of time, but were he to be sidelined in future games, Dorsey Levens would likely carry the load. Reno Mahe would also contribute, likely in passing scenarios.

Raiders: Porter finally walks the walk

by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com
Monday, October 25, 2004

News
After spouting off earlier in the week about his role in Oakland, wide receiver Jerry Porter backed up his talk by hading in by far his best game of the season, recording 113 yards on six catches and scoring his first touchdown of the year. "I feel that today, when my number was called, I did my best to step up and make the most of my opportunities,'' he told the San Jose Mercury News. "When my number is called, I'll do my damndest to make a play.'' Prior to week seven, Porter's best effort was an 84-yard performance against the Bucs.

Views
His outburst came after rumors surfaced that the Raiders attempted to move him before last week's trade deadline, at which point he went off and suggested he would not be back with the team next season. Nothing can be more motivating than the promise of a big contract, be it in Oakland or elsewhere, so we have some optimism about Porter as he plays out the last nine games of his current deal.

Chargers: McCardell makes successful debut

by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com
Monday, October 25, 2004

News
In his first game with the Chargers, wide receiver Keenan McCardell shook off the rust rather quickly, hauling in five passes for 65 yards and drawing a pass interference call that netted the offense 44 additional yards. "I'll probably feel it a little [Monday], but I played OK,'' he told the North County Times. "I know my wind can get a lot better, but that comes with me taking more reps in practice.''

Views
Keenan's new teammates came away impressed with the veteran's professionalism and his ability to contribute immediately despite a lengthy contract dispute. We expect him to remain in the mix from here on out, and he should make for a decent fantasy start in a favorable matchup. He'll likely be a bit more consistent than Reche Caldwell was in terms of yards and catches, but may not reach the end zone as often.

Chargers: L.T. limited by groin injury

by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com
Monday, October 25, 2004

News
Running back LaDainian Tomlinson continues to be limited by a groin injury, and for the bulk of the fourth quarter on Sunday, he yielded to backup Jesse Chatman to run out the clock against the Panthers. "I just felt like Jesse could be more effective than I could be," he said. "Just taking some shots a few times has really aggravated it. I can't say it's the worst that it's felt, but it definitely didn't feel any better after this game. I'm going to continue to try and play through it. As long as I'm walking and can run a little bit, I'm going to keep playing."

Views
Tomlinson did score, but totaled just 47 rushing yards on 17 attempts, and admitted to lacking his typical burst throughout. Chatman led the team in rushing on the day, collecting 69 yards and a touchdown, remarkably his third score in the last four games. Clearly, Tomlinson is nowhere near 100 percent, will likely continue to miss practice during the week, and won'thave enough time to recover fully until the team's week-10 bye. Fantasy owners can expect L.T. to continue to be a warrior, but must handcuff Chatman to their top player.

Are you a Dave fan? A sports fan? Retarded?

Wonder if those guys in the dump are ready to Photoshop your pic yet ... who knows where they might put your pic, or what they put it with it.

Now that sounds like fun.

My brother got this email this past week.

==================================================

I don't know if you are interested in selling you site, but we are looking to purchase a variety of sites (and I assumed you are the person I should contact regarding this). If you would be interesting in selling your site, let me know how much would you charge.

I look forward to hearing back from you,

Mike Beltre

Thought it was interesting. We do have many prospects for future improvements and affiliations. We'll be doing an online fantasy guide with Crossover, and other ideas are being gone over with the 2 sites.

Wouldn't sell the site, but wouldn't even know what someone would pay for one like ours. No so much show, but a lot of info.

Pretty pleased with the progress myself.

Could that you are being offered for the site...

From being a webbie here...it's surely a supply/demand type deal....and people look for polished sites to help set up a fantasy network...

yours is more polished every day...

We were made an offer for the website.

We accepted and sold it.

It is currently changing hands and my brother and I are starting another, that will still be fantasy sports driven, but have a different theme.

We will be inviting the members on our forums to rejoin us on our new site.

I say that KFC shit because Katy fell inside one and tried to sue, they told her to get lost. I know how familiar you are with that.

Doing the same thing, just a new site dumbass.

And a nice bonus for Christmas.

By the way, you don't have any fans or well-wishers, or is that what you call your "bruthas" in the hood.

Hey Thudner, if you have all these fans and well wishers, where is your site?

Why wouldn't one of them build a site in tribute to you, like this is one is dedicated to Roth?

You read what people think of you, and you get off on the negative attention.

Just like Katy.

You're Katy Joe, and you thought being unemployed, uneducated, alcoholic, and gay was bad.

Man, it does really reek to be you loser.

Being the beginning of the month, you must be on a high, some cheasp wine and some welfare check.

The new site and forums are up and are still a work in progress but we've added a couple solid members to our staff and the boards are already much more active and getting a ton more hits.

Looks like this site will be better than the last.
