DC++

best part, you can pick from thousands of servers

also, I heard that if you're in college and on a LAN, you can get some really crazy DL times if someone from your college has a server set up

I used to use iMesh (I got scared off due to RIAA lawsuits).

It was pretty good - fast - good selection. But the spyware it came with and the popups were crazy. I used AdAware and Popup Killer to combat those drawbacks.

I used to use KaZaa and Morpheus, but I'm still trying to scrub the adware/spamware/shit from my hard drive from those. Both actually were okay for downloading audio/video files.

Another question would be is if there is a CLEAN file-sharing program out there that doesn't gum up your registry with a bunch of spyware and crap. And that you don't need to be an MIT-educated engineer to figure out how to use.

Try Kiwi Alpha or Bizzy Net. I also use Kazaa and Morpheus. I was like Figs and used iMesh for the longest time, but once the lawsuits started flying, the file-sharing volume dropped like a stone. WinMX never did do much for me.

Good thing about DC++ is, if you go through the server list and look for the Heavy Metal or CLassic Rock servers, and mark them as favorites, you can find almost anything. With no spyware.

If you want real bootlegs and not mp3 shit go to easytree.org , jamtothis.com or everydayjones.com/BitTorrent .

WinMX is worthless. I'm using Limewire now and it's been excellent so far.

I've been using WinMX for a bit now and it's been really cool with me.

Yeah, WinMX is good for finding current hits, but for obscure stuff it's kinda useless.

Good call, Switch. I don't trust any of these file sharing programs.

Download Ad-aware by Lavasoft. It's free and sort of works like Norton. Update to Norton 2005. Should take care of most any spyware shit. I hate those fuckers that download that stuff onto your PC.

I tried LimeWire last night and I was amazed at the stuff on there. Actually being able to download something I want without being the 154th in queue is a big plus. I'm never using WinMx again. :)

As for spyware, there's plenty of stuff out there to block it. If you want Kazaa without the spyware, there's always Kazaa Lite. I've never had any trouble with it.
