What's your favorite Rock N Roll movie?

I have to say, I'm a big fan of Almost Famous... I watch it often.
I especially like the part where the plane is going down and everyone is fessing up!

Also love Almost Famous - it's like flashing back to H.S. for me. Clothes, music, atmosphere - total deja vu. Get to the concert scenes and CRANK the stereo.

YEARS ago there was an animated film called Heavy Metal.

That "Rock Star" movie makes me laugh really hard - sometimes I watch it cause it's so stupid.

Never saw the Van Kilmer/Jim MOrrison thing.

And I loved all the Beatles Movies.

Ya know Ralph Saenz from the Punks had a small roll in Rock Star. There were some good songs in that movie.

He sang Cali Girls in that too, didn't he?

Fabulous Shadow

No, he just knda did some Rothesque hollars. He was auditioning for the lead singer part that Mark Whalburg ended up getting.

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT! DVDversion of course, great extras. To watch Keith Moon go from the greatest drummer of all time to a fat, bloated, alcoholic, no skills, hack.Quite depressing but a great film nonthe less.

but, I thought we also heard him singing Cali Girls during the movie. Sounded (almost) just like Dave but the credits said it was him..

No?? Am I imagining this?

It should be obivious to any real Roth fan that that was NOT Dave's version of Cali Girls.

It even says it was Saenz in the credits...

Dazed and Confused was great because of the music. Fast Times at Ridgemont High is just a great movie. It seems that movies from the 80's are the absolute best!

I believe the part where we hear Ralph singing is when they are heading out to Cali.

Fabulous Shadow

But Ralph was PHYSICALLY in the movie singing. Not just his voice. So was he actually IN the movie AND singing TRACKS for it? Interesting... I have that soundtrack. I'll have to check it out. Sheese... Now I just may have to ewnt it again too... :)

No, he was singing a Steel Dragon song for his audition. During the scene when they're picked up from the airport in the limo, you hear Ralph singing California Girls in the background.

Suburbia.
Not the piece of crap that came out in the early nineties with kids hanging at a convenience store, but the Penelope Sphearis film from the early eighties. Punk Rock at its best.
