Sometimes we peasants are granted the opportunity to be graced by the split second presence of a celebrity. Maybe you were able to shake their hand, or even take a picture. Share your story/pics and please tell us who was cool and who was an asshole.

I also once saw Rick James at the Buffalo Airport in about 85' or so. BITCH! He had an entourage of family and friends. But, no he was not high and no he didn't slap me either!

I grew up with Keanu Reaves. I think he is a terrible

actor, but the guy is a great hockey player(goalie),

and the best chess player I have ever met.

We hung out all the time until we were about 14.

Oh, also when I was in highschool I met Dave Grohl.

I sold him a pound of Turkey Breast and a half pound of White American Cheese.

We both trained to be teachers at Buffalo State College in the late 90's (right after her divorce, she needed a change and wanted her own career). I haven't seen or talk to her in about three years

I feel the same way about the Goos' music as Gwapo feels about Reeves' acting, but in fact she had nothing bad to say about Johnny and is a very wonderful woman.

But I heard from other mutual friends that Johnny Goo was the typical pretty-boy dick that moved from Buffalo to L.A. after his big hit and 'traded her in for a younger model.'

"Give a Little Bit" indeed.

went to the airport with my friend to pick up her parents...Corbin Bernsen was on the same plane. guy walks right by me and says "how ya doing" and i'm trying to figure out who the hell he was. he was in town for the Major League premiere. my friends mom gets off the plane and says "did you see who that was?" and then i knew. same day, we saw the singer from Information Society waiting for his plane back to Minneapolis.

we were at Tiffany's strip club for my brother's bachelor party...Zydrunas Ilgauskas and former Cavalier Vitaly Potapenko came in after the game. Drew Carey was upstairs in the VIP section, you could just see his glasses and flattop haircut over the railing. he usually comes to town for Indians opening day. also saw Carey walking up E. 9th St. the day of the Rock Hall ribboncutting. saw Joe Walsh walking around the Rock Hall one day, another "is that who i think it is?" moment.

when i was doing the insurance gig i sold a policy to one of the Washington Redskins and almost got to talk to Charlie Clouser of Nine Inch Nails. he was moving and needed his policy rewritten, but he hung up before they could transfer him to me.

i see local celebs all the time but i typically don't go up and talk to them. i'm just a nobody and i don't like to be bothered when i'm out, so i'm not gonna do it to someone else.

OK...here we go.

Robin Williams - Met him on Clement Street in SF. Rainy day, he gets out of his Mercedes SUV with a hooded windbreaker on. I recognize his face, charge across the street and just about scare the shit out of him saying hello. He was pretty nice but a real short fucker.

Danny Glover - shopping in the Mollie Stone's market on California and see Danny. Walk over, talk to him about Lethal Weapon etc...super nice guy. We wrap up the conversation and Danny asks me my name - I tell him it's Mezro. He says to me laughing "didn't your momma love you? that is one fucked up name!" Shakes my hand. Super nice guy.

Patrick Stewart - with this hot Chinese girl at a Walgreens downtown shopping for toothpaste and I just about walk into Patrick. My gal pal points at him and keeps saying "the Captain, the Captain" over and over again in broken english. He seemed pretty amused. For the next five minutes we shopped together discussing toothpaste, toothbrushes and the evils of Listerine. He was warm, gracious and had a great sense of humor. The fact I'm not a Star Trek geek probably contributed to his mellowness. I made him laugh pretty hard twice and he patted me on the back as I left. Another really short guy.

Kirk Hammett - I'm walking around Japantown and see this guy eating noodles that looks really familiar. All I can see is the back of his head (and this major bald spot peeking out of slicked back black hair) but the shoulder length curls kind of give it away. Once I confirm it is him I just walk up, excused myself for disturbing his meal and say hello. He seemed very shy and a bit intimidated that I recognized him. His wife was with him and she was super nice; very outgoing. I got the vibe that he didn't want to talk so I wrapped up the conversation and shook his hand. He thanked me for coming over and seemed sincere. Without much fanfare I walked over to the cashier and paid for his lunch.

Robert Trujillo - I'm at the Stonestown YMCA, it is 6am, I'm an hour into my workout when I see this guy with a long ponytail walk in. Don't think much of it and go about my workout. 15 minutes later the guy sits down on the bench next to me, spins around and I'm face-to-face with Robert. I say hello, we start talking and he seems thrilled that I recognized him. He told me he was in town visiting Mike Bordin. He talked to me for about 10 minutes; this was just before Metallica went out on their St. Anger tour. Saw him again as I was heading out. We talked again and I wished him best of luck. Super down to earth and a nice guy.

Mezro...I'll go into the porn stars list another time (but I won't say which one is a close friend of mine who I see/talk to on a more than regular basis)...

Hey there,

Living in New York you tend to see a number of celebs. I have met Mr. Trump, he makes you feel like a billion bucks. I also saw Robert Plant in the Village when I was having dinner with a friend. He still looks good, a little more seasoned. Very low key.

I also saw Woody Allen at the Met, I love his work but he is a creepy guy. David Byrne of the talking Heads down in Soho at a gallery event. Nice guy easy to approach.

Cheers,

ALM

I'm an NYC dweller, so we get our fair share. here's a few:

Sean Penn, 2000: actually asked me for directions to the Angelika Film Center. And all I remember is tthree thngs: 1) how weird that Sean Penn is asking for directions to the Angelika. It's about NYC's best and most-renowned art film theater (and it was also only two blocks away). 2) how much I wanted to figure out something to say to get the guy to hit me. An insult about Madonna? His current wife? A Spicoli reference? That The Crossing Guard sucked ass and he owes me ten bucks? Too many possibilities, and I wound up merely telling him to turn around and he'll find the theater two blocks away. And 3) He had GREAT hair.

Mariah Carey: At the premiere of Good Will Hunting: She is far TALLER than you would think. And uglier. Her head is shaped like a light-bulb. Maybe not ugly, but definitely BIZARRE.

Al Goldstein: well, he's a star to me. The publisher of SCREW magazine, a complete fat slob, but just to prove he is worth more than you and I ever will be, he wear TWO GOLD WATCHES. ON EACH ARM. BRILLIANT!

Oh, and I forgot to mention...DAVE!

True! I was walking down Bleecker St. (near where I live), and I was walking east and I see this guy wearing a full-on hiking outfit - in NYC - walking west. The works - hat, shorts, backpack, sunglasses. I (and I'm sure everyone else) was wondering if this guy thought he was somewhere in the Congo or what the hey. I noticed this person simply because he stood out. Maybe not to the level of getting out of a sparkling gold limo in front of the 7-11 at 3am, but...you know, everyone was noticing this guy.

It took me a moment, but I suddenly realized it was DAVE, no mistake. My jaw dropped, and I watched him walk by. I WISH I had noticed and recognized him soon enough...that way I could have said, "Hey, man, that hiking outfit is YOU! You'll get some leg tonight for sure! Tell us how you do!"

Stern i didn't really count. i met him at his book signing. i told him i thought that "infomercial" he did for Miss America was great...he says "you liked that, huh?" i said yeah, i laughed my ass off...he says "thanks," signs my book, and sticks the red Sharpie in my book and handed it back to me. i still have the Sharpie too.

we used to go to amateur fight nights here. every couple months or so there would be fights on a Friday night...there were always Browns players there, and local TV people. they'd be a couple rows up, a section over, whatever, not all in suites or anything. there was also a card at Cleveland State on a Friday night, before Bernie Kosar's charity golf tourney...all the QB's were sitting together, Warren Moon, Jim Kelly, Elway...a ton of other players. my friend went to the can and saw Buster Douglas in the concession stand line on the way back. for reference, this was the 400 pound, fallen from grace Buster Douglas.

i used to host a television show in dallas for about 5 years and have interviewed most of the big celebs either on the show or at award shows. i must say that most are pleasant when you treat them like normal people. the worst are atheletes. the rudest celebs i have ever met are: bette midler, gillian anderson(bitch), ruppert everett, michael richards, eric estrada(my childhood icon) ted lange (love boat - total ass) to name a few. the coolest: will smith, brad pitt, clooney, julia roberts, sandra bullock, ozzy and sharon, marilyn manson ...

i must admit my dream would be to meet dave and eddie. doubt that day will ever come.
