I was thinking about this tonight and it got me intrigued, is everyones memory good enough to remember how many guitars (including the first shitty acoustic) you have owned in your life. Im not particularly
after makes/models etc (but you can list it if you remember)
but how many in total. I know a few people here that wouldnt surprise
me if it was in the hundreds...

I really have to think about this, a rough guess, between 20-30....
Ive got five currently...
Ive had Gibsons/Fenders/Ibanez, various obscure acoustics....

Im waiting for Elvis to answer this one.. 100 at least Im thinkin :)

just 3...

An Epiphone strat (which I still have), an Ibanez RG (which I swapped for my halfstack) and a Japanese Tokai Love Rock.

I'm planning on getting an Ibanez again, in the summer. Or some other with a Floyd Rose...

Over 200 total, but then again I was a guitar builder, I remember I once had 120 painted bodies and boxes of necks stacked in my bedroom I had to clear a path of magazines and crap just to get to the bed and TV stand to go to sleep.

I would take trades, I would horse-trade up or down. I would buy to part-out for parts or just to resell.

I personally have parts for about 13 guitars now, just 3 are playable, and only one has been my steady player since 1986, a 1980 Musicman Sabre 2 in shoreline-silver with hum-single-single PU config, scalloped neck and Kahler trem. I think I picked it up a few hours total in the last year.

:: sigh :: The guitar business sucks. Too many ups and downs; management thinks they're so fucking cool in these companies when profits are up and your good ideas are moving, yet when profits are down and Management is out of ideas, the first ones to go are the designers, builders and luthiers who actually manufacture the things.

I should have been a plumber, or lawyer. I'd have been happier.

I own 5 guitars, but the first shitty acoustic is on loan to a mate. Unfortunately I dont own any real cool special guitars like Fenders or Gibsons, but I am an Epiphone man, I have an SG and a Les Paul. I have also have a really cool acoustic my ex gave me for my birthday last year but its an absolute CUNT to re-string so gonna have to take it to a shop.

Hoping to get something with a floyd rose or sick ass bridge for some Eddie dive bombing tho.

Near as I can figure....18, and I own 9 now. I tend to only buy things I want to hang onto for awhile, and once I buy something, I have to be extremeley desperate to have to sell it.....and these days I am not even close to being that desperate....

I have had about 20 in my lifetime, maybe more.
My first was a Kay SG copy, and that progressed into Hondo II's until i learned how to save money and got into my one and only Gibson Les Paul.
From there i bought a few Ibanez guitars for the sole purpose of rebuilding and selling.
Owned an old Gibson hollow body acoustic until the leg of a rocking chair went through the front of it.
Owned 2 Odessa acoustics, one had a broken neck which i replaced and made an electric acoustic out of. (did an Elvis and smashed it on a severe drunk one night on a concrete patio).

2 jackson Charvel model 3's

I have owned a few bass guitars: BC Rich, Jackson, 2 Sammick 5 strings.

Right now i have 1 Charvel Model 3 (black), a Charvel 625-C Electric/Acoustic (cherry sunburst), and a Aria Pro II Classic RS Road Series (Originally Pearl White, now Van Halenized), and a cheapo Ibanez 4-string Bass.

And i am sure i am forgetting a couple.

The only one i miss is my Les Paul. It was a beauty too. Black with silver burst finish, and i have never seen another one like it, ever.
If i do, i'll buy it without hesitation.

Yamaha accoustic which I hated and later jumped on and smashed; 2 Teisco Del Reys, one sounded like an organ the other one did ok; Ibanez Roadstar with a flamed maple top (My first real guitar), changed the pickup and put a graphite nut in myself. Learned cutting a nut is more difficult than you would think. LOL! Used Les Paul Custom--I loved this guitar and still wish I had it, traded it in for a Kramer like an idiot. Kramer Baretta--bought it because Eddie endorsed Kramers. Tried to like the guitar but hated it. 5 assorted Stratocasters with variouse pickup configurations. Grew tired of Strats and got a Les Paul Special. Got a Wolfgang. Got a SG. Got a Epiphone Explorer.

Yamaha guitars suck, never liked them at all and for no particular reason.
Something about the name Yamaha being on a guitar and that they should stick to building motorcycles, lol.

Great for a beginner though, and priced right i reckon.

Fender has some great acoustics in the $225 and up range.
They're lower line of acoustics have improved in quality over the years and also make great beginners guitars.

A Tip: If you want your kids to keep playing then make sure the guitar has good action. I was running into trouble with my daughter because she complained it hurt her fingers, so i took a file to her nut and bridge...much better and easier to chord now, problem solved.

When I think about the guitars I've owned and sold, it makes me sick. I've owned about 500. ( used to own a music store) The ones that come to mind are:
1) 57 Fender Telecaster
2) 46 Gibson es-300
3) 47 Gibson es-300
4) 65 Gibson j-50
5) 67 Gibson es-335
6) 69 Fender Telecaster with bigsby
7) 77) Gibson Les Paul deluxe
8) 94 Martin CEO's choice
9) 74 Martin d-28
10) Gibson 50 es-150
11) Gibson 50 es-125
These alone are worth $50000, I'm gonna go throw up now.
