View Full Version : The albums that should have sold millions

Every New Years day I sit and listen to a few CDs that I haven`t heard for a while.

It is quite incredible to hear some albums by bands that disappeared, yet made some great music.

GIUFFRIA "Giuffria": I had that CD on today then couldn`t turn it off. That is a real quality album, one that should have at least left them a footnote in rock history.

Diamond head "White album" : This CD rocks so hard. It`s as good as Iron Maiden`s debut, and that is no word of a lie. Where did it all go wrong?

Anyone else got any suggestions?

That album was one of the best in the last 15 years!

It is my favorite DLR album. I even like that better than EEAS!

Captain Peacock, you have to be an Aussie ? I didnt think anyone had heard of Rose Tatoo outside of Oz. I met one of them years ago. (The bass player I think) They occasionally reform for a few gigs in Australia.

I always thought "Peace Sells... But whos buying" by Megadeth should have sold billions. (Maybe it did) For any megadeth fans check out www.megadeth.com They have just released "Peace Sells" in 5.1 DVD Audio Format. That could be a ripper !

DR FEELGOOD should have been a bigger album than what it was.

The Crue was at their best here.

Ah, definately one of their stronger albums

'Face To Face', 'Homeworld (The Ladder)', 'The Messanger', 'Lightning Strikes'. Love it.

'Snow' by Spock's Beard is excellent. The new Porcupine Tree album, 'Deadwing', and the single 'Lazarus' should have been number one

"Follow me down to the valley below, you know"

Also Dragonforce-'Valley OF The Damned'/'Sonic Firestorm'

Symphony X 'Divine Wings...'

Shadow Gallery 'Legacy'

I'm not sure how well this one actually did, probably better than I think, but I believe that Brian May's solo album 'Back To The Light' is even better than some of the stuff he did with Queen.

ANY UFO album

Scorpions 'Unbreakable'

The list goes on and on and on...

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, because I haven't read the rest of this thread, but Chris Squire's (Yes) solo stuff is very good, particulary 'Fish Out Of The Water'

"Hold Out Your Hand"

Tell you something about the album title. When Yes were living together (before they were signed) Chris Squire used to spend hours in the bath and earned the nickname 'The Fish'. That is why his solo piece on 'Fragile' is called The Fish and why his first solo album was called 'Fish Out Of The Water'.

I wish Dave would have shopped that album around to a real label. Had he done so, it could have been polished a little and maybe could have sold better. It just lacked the smooth finish of ALAE. That album oozes with the polished finish of a Cuban hand made cigar. Nonetheless, the DLR Band album is 5 stars. It's all attitude. I fucking love tunes like Counterblast. What made that album was Dave's unmatchable lyrics and Lowery's/Hartman's ripping licks. That's what Dave is lacking now. Someone like Lowery who can right awesome/original guitar licks for him to put lyrics to. No offense to the current line up, but Young is no Vai, Becker or Lowery. He is not bringing anything like CB or Slam Dunk to the table. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Considering the last studio album, it's hard to say for sure.
