can anyone answer this? I know they are named after two obscure blues artists, but that's about all I know about their influences.

I always assumed the physcadelic Bealtes era had to have played a big part.

They all had different influences.

For example, Syd Barrett was a big fan of 'Sgt Pepper', whereas Rick Wright came from a Jazz upbringing (see Classic Albums documentry when he is talking about how they wrote 'Breathe', and one of the chords is rather strange and he heard it on a Miles Davies album, and he explains that he is influenced by Jazz music).
