Well, I always think of Zeppelin`s albums as a whole and not a bunch of individual tracks and I really enjoy them, although perhaps their last three "official" studio albums ("Presence", "In through the out door" and "Coda") aren`t as consistant as the early ones.

Queen, I think of more as a lot of good singles but not much in the way of cohesive albums, far too much diversity.

Both bands, however, have become bigger "legends" than I think they ever were, which I think Robert Plant would agree with.

Zeppelin can't be categorized as hard rock, blues, bluegrass, disco, pop, or metal.

They were all of that, and then some.

DLR7884
One the best bands ever, actually.

I love Zep, but the DVD sux!!! How many versons of songs do we need. They also didn't put "Ten Years Gone" from Knebworth on there. I see the video on VH1 Classic all the time!!!

I am sure it will be on DVD Part 2. I'll give Page and Plant credit, they will squeeze every last dime outta me!! Cocksmokers!!

I agree with DLR7884

And cheer Page and Plant for not using the name "Led Zeppelin" after Bonham died...

Even if Dave had died back in the 80's Eddie wouldn't have done the same thing

Dude, I rarely disagree with you, but I have to here.

Go get a copy of Physical Graffiti and listen to it.

Then tell me they peaked with their fourth album.

The only album after Presence was In Through The Out Door. While I'll agree that the album as a whole wasn't great, it didn't suck.

I'm not counting CODA because that was just a bunch of old song thrown in to create an album.

DLR7884
Face it, Zep rocks.

Well if they sucked after Presence that's still 7 incredible years...honestly how many bands in rock history have had more than 7 prime years? Very, very few. VH had 6.

I think they peaked at Houses of the Holy personally, because a lot of Physical Graffiti was songs that had been written and recorded prior to when Plant lost the high-high range for good.

Zep never was never part of a trend. "Hard Rock" They were Zeppelin. They were there own thing, which encompassed alot more than 1 category of music. All the best bands were that way. VH wasn't hard rock. Nobody sounded like them.

Now, Black Sabbath, I love 'em. but it was, and is, the limitation of there skills which produced the sound it did. They worked with their limitations well. And it produced something unique. Same with U2.

Like Zeppelin. but zeppelin grew, and took in al kinds of influences. And the way they used dynamics, like.... starting off acoustically, and building, was more than alot of bands could do. These guys had the big dicks, and the bravado as a result.

One of the biggest bands of all time!
And one of the best.

Yeah, that was a fucking joke.

Dig out the album. I mean for Christ's sake, you've got Ten Years Gone, Custard Pie, The Wanton Song, In My Time of Dying....the bad ass songs just don't stop.

Plus it's a double album with NO FILLER at all.

I ought to bring the pimp hand down on you motherfuckers that say that Zep DVD is shit. The Royal Albert Hall performance is pure BALLS OUT ROCK...with the exception of White Summer. You guys talk about Queen, hell they aren't even a pimple on Led Zeppelin's ASS. Think about it like this....Led Zeppelin was the blueprint for Van Halen, and Queen was the blueprint for Gary Cherone.

Mr Grimsdale

Led Zep great. Queen great.

Led Zeppelin was so versatile, that they are beyond any categorization and when I think of "Rock'n'Roll", I don't think of The Beatles, The Stones or The Who first. No, I think of Led Zeppelin. They didn't just rock, but they rocked, rolled, spaced you out, humored you, gave you a downhome feel, even a Middle Eastern feel. They were definately the TOTAL PACKAGE.

I love 'em.

ZOSO

I couldn't agree with you more. Never has a band mastered so many different styles. And I do mean MASTERED. Hell, Led Zeppelin III was a far cry from the blues-inspired songs on I & II, but it was equally as good.

Zeppelin was a real album band. I have to laugh at any greatest hits collections I see for them since they never even had the potential to work. Each album was really a testament to a certain style or theme, w/ the exception of Physical Graffiti in all of its straight-up balls on the wall versatility(which also kicks major ass if that wasn't made clear earlier).

They did it all, and more importantly they did it all so FUCKING well. Just look at the passion and drive they exhibit on the DVD-THAT'S rock, folks.

Led Zeppelin-In my not so humble opinion the greatest rock band of all time. So much for my 2 cents. :p

PAGE IS GOD!!!
