Chat feature?

How about a chat room function for, say, the Locker Room, so that during the games the convo is real-time? Might be interesting for Main, too...

(might solve some rediculous flame wars that destroy good threads...)

Honestly I don't see the point; we already have various messenger services that'll do this.

Plus I like the comments being "etched in stone" on the board.

But then nobody would be able to chat in it. With all the personal fights going on here, they'd just get carried into the chat room, only insults are thrown faster, more constantly, pretty much spamming the place.

I 'spose you could ban constant bitching in there :D

Ive seen them where you can cap the amount of people chatting...like 20 max, plus make it members only.

Yes...but then so many things would be missed. People would still be fighting out of nowhere...Dave rumors would sometimes just be posted in the chat room without ability to look back in posts.

You can do just a simple java chat as eluded to.

I'd guess all the Mod's would moderate it.

I doubt it would detract from important posts on the board.

The whole freedom of speech thing Sarge insists on would make it pretty good.

Don't connect it with IRC though, just keep it exclusive to the board.

Chat would be cool... but I suspect that a certain few would ruin it for the masses and make it a wasted effort. If you find someone you want to chat with from the Army, give them your username and chatroom preference and go for it!

We had a chat room years ago...in fact you could even do voice chat in the thing. Seemed like the only ones who used it were us webbies...except for the time Sarge and me were talking to these girls, and my better half heard. That was a long night...and I didn't even say anything bad.
