View Full Version : The Great Roth Army Religous Debate

vanzilla

I've been frequenting the Army for about a month now and have noticed on several occasions that many of the threads turn into debates on religion.

It goes without saying that Katydid or Little Skittles start these rants than eventually turn into full blown pissing matches.

So here's what I propose: You got a point to make about religion, come here and make it. All denominations are welcome. You will not be bashed for being a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Budhist, Aetheist, Snake Charmer, Ass Worshiper or whatever God you're into. This is simply a place to make your case.

Also note, I'm agnostic. I don't care what you believe in...it's all the same to me. If you have faith - I can't touch you. With that said, don't try to convert me to your religion. It won't work and your wasting your time.

I also won't be trying to convert anyone into my way of thinking. Instead, I'll try to explain my beliefs in an intelligent, respectful, and concise manner.

Now that everyone understands the rules, I'll begin with the first thing I don't understand about Christianity:

Do you really believe that Noah was able to gather all 10 billion species on to a boat - wait it out for 40 days and 40 nights - wait for the flooding to subside - then go back and place each animal to their correct geographical location? I welcome your responses. GO!

Can I get an amen!

I just thought if we could contain her to one place it'd work out better for everyone. Just a thought.

On a personal note, I don't think any religion in the world is correct, honestly. I've got my own ideas as to how things operate in the universe and they're kinda based on a lot of different ideals from various religions, but I don't exactly subscribe to any one set belief structure...most of the world's religions are embarassing at their roots, anyway, and nobody comes away clean from it.

True. Basically, the saying goes "All roads lead to Rome".

We all will die. When that happens, everything that we ever did in life will be irrelevant.

Jimi Hendrix said it best:

I'm the one who has got to die when it is time for me to die. So let me live my life....the way I want to....

this is how i see things...i dont think too much...i'll cuntcentrate on the important things and feelin' right...

Every morning the Sun goes up n' tells you :
"Just do it boy,
No matter what you're up to
I'm telling you just do it boy"

"I'll take care o' things up here
so you don't take the other way
I'm your captain relief, I give light
and I let you play"

"When I hear you giving the weep:
shine on me I won't compromize
Praying won't take you that deep
you need real eyes to realize:

It's that smile on your face
that gives space and I hear you call

I'll give light in your eyes, make you shine, take you
to your goal"

Could it be so, that all the answers are there

all it takes is the pace to hear what it says

"Circumstances are something you just can't
avoid but it's that first step you take and you're
on your way, boy
It's a question of faith will you keep going on
I'll give light on your way,
I'm the King, I'm the Sun"

"It's all just laws of nature, anyway
theirs, hers, ours,
yours, his as mine"

"Smile go on and smile"

SO God "overshadows" a 15 year-old girl, she gets pregnant from God, another man marries her, and the son has to die for that?

That's my main problem with it. Everything else about it I understand.

Personally, I think with with the gigantic universe out there, the millions of stars, planets, let alone the immense amount of species during this one planet's existence...I think it's very pathetic and self-centered for humans to believe that all existence and the entire universe was created for them...a place to live a very short life before an eternity of happiness...or time with Satan.

Life is pretty insignificant. But even insignificance is subjective. And we have to find our own worths and values. Some good values are rooted in various religions, but I believe I can find those values without subscribing to beliefs in some deity that was thought up in some primitive's mind a few thousand years ago. In several thousand years, Christianity and the Muslim religion and all other religions will be gone. But cockroaches will still be roaming the Earth without a god to be concerned with.

Rikk, if I wasn't such a lazy bastard, I would've posted that on the various religious threads that appeared on this site ever since I've joined. You rule, bro...

And actually, both of us have been lying a bit, because we both know that we do actually subscribe to a god, don't we?

Just who is this God I speak of?

Look Rikk, that's different. That's not believing in an hypotetical deity. We were friends with ALAN WAY before HE became a God. You, me, Scotty... Hell, a lot of people here.

Damn fellas - I didn't know there were 50,000 religious threads on this board. Sorry man, I'm new to the joint.

Rikk - what can I say? I agree with you 100 percent. Bueno Bob - you also made some great points as well.

Fonzie - you are one funny motherfucker! Enjoy reading your posts.

Don't forget 7884. He was also ALAN's friend before ALAN became a God and the Greatest of all the panthers.

Dude, don't feel bad. Sometimes new posters are refreshing because they bring out old topics that haven't been discussed in a while. I can personally say that I haven't had one religious discussion on this board yet that I know if. So I'm enjoying this thread.;)

Rikk, since I'm new - will you tell me a story about Alan the Panther?

He seems so cool, and I'm amazed by his powers!

Please enlighten.

ALAN THE PANTHER once took it upon himself to eat a clock named Jonathan. The clock was Byzantine, and ALAN had indigestion.

It is at this time that PUSSY LICKER and I decided to take him to a back alley and help him throw up, but one of ALAN's paws landed on a thumbtack, and in extreme pain and fury, he bashed PUSSY LICKER on the head. (PUSSY LICKER was clinically dead for 15 minutes before being revived, which actually kind of explains why he posts the way he does.) Then ALAN threw up Jonathan the clock and apologized for his behavior. When PUSSY LICKER came back to life, ALAN bought him the T.REX box set and all was forgiven.

ALAN likes sugar-free rice krispie treats.

THE END.:)

I'm not forgetting 7884. Hell, he was with us when we were working as security for the White House in the Vietnam/Hippie protest days. ALAN got us the job, remember? 700 bucks an hour, all you can eat (and drink) buffets and all we had to do was throw some tear gas at the hippies out in front every 6 hours. Those were the days. We were there for what - 2 weeks? Before that kid jumped the fence armed with a pear and ALAN went after him and dragged him out and maimed him horribly. I think ALAN not only detached all the kid's limbs but he also re-attached them in impossible places. It was clearly self defense, but ALAN was fired after that. And DLR7884 was the first to say "ALAN goes, I go!" So, we all quit. It was still cool, though.

Man, those were the days with 7884. Remember how 7884 stood up for him, but then when he couldn't get a job for months to support his worsening coke habit, he started blaming ALAN??? Man, they didn't talk for a few years there in the early 70s. In fact, once ALAN became a deity, 7884 looked him up, and ALAN was a real jerk: "So, look who wants to talk to the Panther God now?"

That was a bad scene.

Pity about Gary the Turnip. He died back in 1973. I get hungry just thinking about him.

ALL PRAISE ALAN!

And thanks for the 5 stars! I'll be posting porn later.

BTW...you fuckers are some fast typing sons a bitches.

But all that cannot cheer me up for the fact that I miss GARY THE TURNIP.:(

vanzilla

Rikk - I know you miss Gary, but you've got to accept the fact that he's in a better place. He's moved on to the heavenly garden in the sky. Where he get's plenty of sunshine and rain, and is embedded in mineral rich soil free of any pesticides. He's living a truly organic experience and really - we all should be that lucky.

I think you need to focus on the friends you have - not the ones you've lost. Like Mitch the Eggplant. Remember when Mitch the Eggplant saw that one dude robbing the bank and ran him down single handedly before the cops came. I mean - even in the face of danger, Mitch the balls to look that crook in the eye and say - FUCK YOU PAL, I'm sick of contributing to the FDIC! That was heroic.

So you see, you still have plenty of great friends. And always remember - when in doubt ask yourself: WWATPD?

Man, did this thread take a fucking giant left turn or what?

I was actually baptised in the catholic church, but i haven't really been there ever since.
However, and perhaps because of that, I'm currently experiencing some sort of catholic fetich.
i dig the pope! He supported the polish liberation movement in the 80's. i also like churches and candles. I really should attend church some day.

If i could only find it.
