I'm going with Lynyrd Skynyrd on this one, but Iron Maiden would be up there too.

Did The Eagles have three guitars?

Well, I think that about covers them all.

I`ll go for Skynryd as I prefer Maiden with two guitars.

I was about to say Vai's band but I don't like them as much as Maiden.

Although, yes, Vai's band do play some wicked stuff.

Tony MacAlpine rules!
Dave Weiner is pretty good.

Do you prefer Vai or MacAlpine?

Lindsey Buckingham toured with I think some crazy number like nine guitars in an eighteeen piece band.

The Stones, over the years, Jagger has been playing with Richards and Wood more and more on record and on stage.

Fuck, even REM toured with two additional guitarists to Buck (who would also alternate onto keyboards) on the Monster tour. Which is one of the reasons it kind of sucked.

I don't think Maiden should count because they didn't start off as a 3 guitar band.

And in their Kansas City show on the 1981 tour, Mick Taylor actually came back to the band for that night, which technically made them a 4 guitar band.

The name of the bootleg for that show, appropriately enough is "Guitar Onslaught". Though as Mick Taylor boots go, it's a bit disappointing. I suspect they didn't have much rehearsal time so there was some confusion as to who was gonna play what parts. Usually it works, but it ain't "Brussels Affair Vol. 2" by any stretch of the imagination.

As far as a permanent triple guitar attack, nobody pulled it off better than the original Lynyrd Skynyrd. I've got a boot from their 75 tour in the brief period after Ed King left, but before Steven Gaines joined up, so it's just Rossington & Collins playing. You can easily tell that something's missing :(

Lynyrd Skynyrd, I think Boston had a triple guitar attack also.

Boston was mainly two leads plus an acoustic...sure that's three guitars, but I dunno if can call it an "attack." LOL

One of the early line-ups of Iron Maiden had 3 guitarists.
