A lot of people say Kirk Hammet overuses his wah. . .there's some substantial backing to that claim. . .but it's kinda his style now

Jimi and Clapton made their Strats cry with their wah pedals. . .

EVH really turned to the wah when he started running out of "old-fashioned" creativity sometime during the Van Hagar years.

But my personal fav. is Slash. His foot is an extension of his hands when he's wailing away on his crybaby.

Thoughts?

I think Clapton used his wah more with his Les Paul..a la the Cream Years. ;)

Vai is good with a wah as well. I use the wah when playing the solo in Bark at the Moon. Not sure if it is supposed to be- but it fits real well.

Brian "Robbo" Robertson during his Thin Lizzy tenure. (Kirk Hammet shaped his wah style to resemble Robbo's, if I recall correctly...)

Michael Schenker, anyone? "Into The Arena", for example.

LMAO!!!

I think of Jimi when thinking of guitar heroes who used a wah pedal. No need to think about anyone else....

100% agree. The solo on Sweet Child of Mine, is fantastic when he kicks in with the wah.

I also like how Satriani using the wah wah.

Also Zappa used it nicely too. There's a track called Ship Ahoy, I think, where he just sounds amazing with it.

Steve Vai on Yankee Rose is amazing.

Obviously Hendrix has to get a mention too. I guess that's where it all started.

Slash uses it very well. It enhances his solos rather than masking it like Kirk Hammett.
