OK, here is the ONLY poll that really matters-the Roth Army's 100 Greatest Rock Albums of All Time.

PM me your 50 favourites and the most voted albums enter the final poll.

The system works like this...

AN EXAMPLE

1. Van Halen-Van Halen(50 points)
2. Van Halen-Van Halen 2 (49 points)
3. Van Halen-Women and Children First (48 points)

etc...

I would like all lists in by June 30th and will put the final list up sometime in July.

TELL OTHER ARMY MEMBERS ABOUT IT-WE NEED A LOT OF VOTERS!

LET THE GAMES COMMENCE...

This will be good.

I`ll need a couple of days to get this right.

You should sticky this, Badguy.

It's gonna be tough narrowing it down to 50, but I'll give it a shot.

why such a long list? Why not trim it down to at least 25-30? Cripes that's a lot

Why do we have to PM, cant we post it here ? Or is there a reason for that ? (Just curious)

I agree it will be interesting.

Shaun just so we are clear, are we talking best albums in general or just within hard rock/metal?

Cheers

This is Shaun not logged in-I'm on a different computer and I forgot my password.

The reason I bothered to re-register was that I wanted to answer the questions that have been asked by PANAMARK and SECRETS.

PANAMARK-The reason for PMing me is that I wont accidently read somebody's list twice. If you PM me, I can tell if I have already submitted your 50 to me. If you post it here I might add the scores from your list up twice. Plus, if the lists are posted here you could probably work out what the winner will bw anyway. This adds more mystery to the whole thing.

SECRETS-They must be some form of rock music. That includes Metal/Hard rock/PROG/punk/glam etc.

I won't accept compilation albums, but I will accept live albums, because certain live albums are important moments in the band's career's (like 'Strangers In The Night)

i'd even include some of dave's solo stuff

beck has 5 at least i should imagine , i'd stick some queen , who and zep in too

after that it starts getting tricky

maybe i have very narrow tastes , i dunno , i've never been impressed by aerosmith or u2 for example , certainly wouldn't compare them to classic vh , who are on the same level as the all time greats

I also think there should be a limit of two albums only by each band in anyone`s list.

Otherwise there will be six Van Halen albums in the top 20 etc.

Good point too late in my case though.

I've also put a ton of albums by Rush.

Fuck it, let people put what they like.

Actually, Badguy, I was just thinking the same thing. Carmine has posted the first 12 and the first 6 are BH, and the second 6 are Dave solo. Secrets also posted his entire list with the top 10 consisting entirely of DLR/VH and Rush.

NEW RULE-NO MORE THAN 3 ALBUMS PER BAND (I'LL HAVE TO MAKE SURE ALL THE PEOPLE I'VE PMED GET THE MESSAGE).

I hope I don't need to do my list again.

I don't wanna sound like a dick but wouldnt it be an idea to exclude all Van Halen / DLR albums?

I mean everyone is gonna put them in the top 10 because we are all fans, so why not make it a bit more interesting and take them out?

That way the list won't be so obvious...

Just a suggestion

I was thinking the same thing myself-but, being a DLR site...

OK-how about no VH in the top 10

Those of you who have already submitted your lists-I'll just move your VH/DLR albums down the list.

God, this is confusing. We seem to be making rules up as we go along.

This is too hard. I don't have enough albums. But I do have a lot of mp3s!

It'll probably be less than 100, Shaun.

Do any Allan Holdsworth albums count?

Soul Reaper

What about just 1 Van Halen album in the Top 10?

Shaun Ponsonby
04-11-2005, 01:58 PM
No, YOU only have to come up with 50. The 100 albums with the most points make the list.

NO VH ALBUMS IN THE TOP 10!!!

IF YOU PUT THEM IN THERE, I'LL JUST MOVE THEM FURTHER DOWN!!

Soul Reaper
04-11-2005, 02:25 PM
50, eh.

OK, I'll try and get a list!

Forget the VH rule, it's a bit silly, don't you think?

Just getting the thread back to the first page.

People may need reminding.

Please vote-you'll regret it if you don't.

Just brining this thread back to page 1, as there are only 9 days left in which to vote.

In light of Carmine's competition, I have decided it would be a good idea to offer a small prize for this.

One (completely random) voter will receive any 5 albums (of their choice) that make the list.

You have 23 1/2 hours left to vote. at midnight (the one in between June and July), voting stops.
