I gotta say, even though the good guys are the 20 something brats that have plagued movies as of late, I'm looking forward to this. Heard a few plot points, and it sounds OUTSTANDING from a storyline point of view...cast looks pretty good, too.

Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor is going to fucking ROCK! I love Spacey, he's going to make this movie worth seeing alone...

I was expecting it to be crap, and ended up enjoying it.
I thought Spacey was great in this film..

I cant really recall too many other memorable films
he has been in to be honest.. Im sure someone will
remind us.

I'm glad to see Spacey, but not thrilled with seeing Luthor again. I thought I remembered rumors of Brainiac a few years ago. Anyway, it will be hard to be worse than the Christpher Reeves movies. I think that the people making the DC characters movies are learning from the Marvel people and maybe will finally make quality movies (like Batman Begins, which looks very promising).

Superman will be played by a guy in his 20's.

Lex by a 40+ year old dude?!?

I think I'll pass!

If you haven't seen Usual Suspects...see it...he's fucking brilliant in it...

other than that...I agree...overrated...but he'll be a great Luthor...

but the dude that is playing Superman looks like a fag...

maybe they're going for a new angle...

You're right he looks like a fag. Didn't he play a superhero before? Like as a member of the Ambiguously Gay Duo? :D

We'll have to ask Icon...he'd know...

he's probably already in line for the movie...

P.S. .....

Hackman was a fine Luthor.

Added some levity.

Spacey was good in LA Confidential as well.

In the last Austin Powers when they remade the movie with different actors (Tom Cruise being Austin), Kevin Spacey was Dr. Evil. I thought that was funny.

Frankly, I've loved everything Kevin Spacey has done, I think, at least all that I've seen. Usual Suspects, American Beauty, L.A. Confidential, etc. Frankly, I think he's an awesome actor...I could pass on Kate Bosworth as Lois, but...I agree, I think DC is learning something about how to make superhero films from Marvel, and I'm kinda excited about this.

AS TO WHY - PLOT SPOILER, SO SKIP THE REST OF MY POST IF YOU DON'T WANT ANYTHING REVEALED.

ok,

SPOILER BELOW:
*********************
The movie starts out with Superman returning to Earth after a 6 year absence. The first two Superman movies stories remain intact, more or less - Superman has defeated Zod and his pack, and shortly thereafter left Earth to travel the galaxy and see if any other traces and/or survivors of Krypton are left.

Now, the interesting dynamic here is that Lois, in the time since he's been gone, has moved on with her life and had a son.

I think that will throw a whole new monkey wrench into the works and I'm kinda interested in how the romantic development will progress with a 5 year old in the mix.

You have no problem with a guy in tights flying about the sky with freaking laserbeams coming out of his eyes but get the ages wrong and it's suddenly less believable?

Depends on whose origin you're looking at. In some instances, Clark and Lex grew up as friends and went their separate ways, in some origins they never met until Clark arrived in Metropolis and Lex was already established. There's always been some room for play, there...sometimes Lex has hair, other times he's bald...the Clark/Lex relationship and it's origins have never been set in stone, so far as I know.

I was always a Marvel person rather than DC.

Big fucking problem with Superman is he can do whatever he likes.

Spiderman was just a pretty strong guy with some homemade shit, could walk up walls and had a tricky homelife.

Superman was all powerful. Where's the interest in a character that can do pretty much anything?

Short of Kryptoninte or getting married he's completely invincible.

in any case we should all be past this stage by now...:)

Interesting...the colors are a lot darker on the suit than I'd prefer...kinda strange...the belt's kinda funky, too, don't know if I like that or not. I will say this, it's a lot fucking better than what they were gonna do with Nic Cage's suit (totally transparent crystal, see his guts, lungs and heart working, blood pumping...GAAAWWWD...that was sheer insanity)...

He also gets to wear the Kryptonian suit (the black and silver) in the movie for a while, from what I've heard. Doesn't look bad, though. Young, but...well, we'll see.
