Think this little motherfucker can hit .400?

The swing, the speed.

Brertt hit what, .395 or something back in the day.

Would be a feat no doubt, but 260 hits last season, and a few more walks thrown in, if anyone can, he would be the man.

I think Brett ended the year at .390....

If anyone can do it, Ichiro can, or maybe Bonds since he has so few official plate appearances.

Too bad Ichiro is already 31 and didn't come to the US when he was 18....200+ hits a year, upwards of 250 some years, he would have threatened Pete Rose's all time hits record.

He's 31 years old now, I think.

Brett was .390...Carew .388...

Ichiro is a lot like Carew...speed and style...

I think he can do it...it will be tough to improve upon last season though...

The scary thing about Ichiro's #'s last year is that he got off to a slow start.

He only hit .255 last April.

Followed by
May: .400
June: .274
July: .432 (Damn!)
Aug: .463 (Double Damn!)
Sept: .373
Oct:: .429 (only 3 games).

Say the guy goes .320 in April...he probably hits 400 for the year...

I read an article with George Brett a few years back where he talks about hitting .390...

I came home that fall after hitting .390 and the first thing my dad says to me is "You mean to tell me you couldn't have got 5 more fucking hits?"

LOL...

Priceless dad shit.

His runs scored should balloon also with Beltre and Sexson behind him this season as compared to last.

Don't forget about Tony Gwynn...

Dude was hitting .394 when the strike hit in Aug. '94.....

But if anyone can do it nowadays, it's that little Japanese bastard....

Having said that, I don't think it'll ever happen again, and that's BOTH .400 and Dimaggio's 56 game hitting streak...

Pitching is too specialized nowadays...

Unless a starting pitcher has his best stuff, he's only lasting 7 innings TOPS...

Then you've got fresh setup men and closers....

You just said exactly what I was too lazy to print in my opener.

Thanks!

All records are there to be taken...although Dimaggio's 56 looks damn near unattainable...the fact that noone's come within' fucking 12 of it EVER says something...

I think .400 will be had at some point...

not sure about 56 games though...

I don't think the record of .426 (I believe that's the right number) will ever be topped.

Ichiro is on Roids. The SF Chronicle reported it, so it MUST be true!
