867-5309. Fuckin' great tune, anyone who ever heard one second of that chorus has it stuck in their head for the rest of their lives.

99 Luftballoons is another great. Der Kommissar, while I'm in this theme of foreign language New Wave hits.

Great thread.

I love a million one hit wonders so there's no way to pic just one. Heck, a shitload of my mixed cd's are loaded with forgotten gems. lol

Here are several that I dig and please keep in mind that a couple of them might have had more than just one hit but not much more. lol Oh, and definitely include "Der Kommissar" and "Cannonball." I had forgotten about that tune 7884, thanks for mentioning it cos I just downloaded it. :)

"More, More, More (How do you like it?)" - Andrea Hughes Connection

"Pick up the Pieces" - Average White Band

"Play That Funky Music" - Wild Cherry

"She's a Beauty" - The Tubes

"I Touch Myself" - The Divinyls

"We're all Alone" - Rita Coolidge

"Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" - Rupert Holmes

"In the Meantime" - Spacehog

"It Never Rains In Southern California" - Albert Hammond

"Pop Music" - M

"You are the Woman" - Firefall

"Everlasting Love" - Carl Carlton

"Band Of Gold" - Freda Payne

Actually that's the Andrea True Connection. Andrea was a porn star in the '70's. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure she was still doing porn when "More, More, More" became a hit. "Get the cameras rollin', get the action goin'" indeed!

Although technically a "two hit wonder", ya gotta give The Knack's "My Sharona" a nod.

but the ULTIMATE one hit wonder of ALL TIME is obvious.

Boomtown Rats weren't One Hit Wonders in the UK. They had a string of hits like 'Rat Trap' (Another number 1) and 'Drag Me Down', for example.

And if you think Bob Geldof has a great voice-you are FUCKING WRONG.

His voice is one of the shitest in the history of Ireland. Watch the live version on the Live Aid DVD, and you'll see what I mean.

Don Mclean wasn't a one hit wonder ('Vincent'?).

Focus had a number of Hit albums, so they can't be classed as one hit wonders because they had hit albums, not hit singles.

If we look at it like that, then, VH were one hit wonders in the UK, despite the fact that they were huge in the album chart.

Are we getting confused with one hit wonders and the song that is always played on the radio by that band?

Getting a little anal here, aren't you? I'm pretty sure we're talking singles here, not albums. If you look at it your way, then if somebody mentions "Beds Are Burning" by Midnight Oil, then Panamark could probably say that Midnight Oil weren't one-hit wonders in Australia. Loosen up!

You're joking, ain't ya?

I might regret this, but you get 5 votes for being British.

Although, I don't know if I should...

1) Europe?
2) Manchester? (For those of you who don't know, Scousers and Mancs have a lot of rivalry)
3) Your screen name says 5150?

Hmmm.

OK, just because you're British.

Although he had a minor second hit with "Never Surrender", COREY HART of "SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT" fame absolutely desreves mention here, if for no other reaosn than about the stupidest lyrics of the 80s aside from Safety Davce...

She's deceivin' me
She cuts my security
She's got a hold of me
I turn to her and say....

' DON'T MESS AROUND WITH A GUY IN SHADES, OH, NO!!!"

Gotta give EMF credit for one thing, if nothing else...

They got away with putting "What the FUCK" in the chorus of their song (via sampling) and the FCC never noticed.

And I thought at the time that Jesus Jones would stick around a while. Guess they didn't want to compete with grunge.

There's an interesting story behind this one. This number was dialed repeatedly after the song came out, people trying to find out who, Jenny was, they had to change their number (whoever, THEY, were) or something along those lines.
