Just heard on the radio today that Paul McCartney will play Seattle in November. But the tickets are going on sale next Saturday.

Why 6 months in advance? Can you think of a reason why Paul McCartney might need some fast cash? Maybe this is his way of financing the purchase of his own songs from plastic man?

As for the show itself.. I'll think about it. I guess I should see him play live once, just to say that I did. But I ain't paying $200 for tickets unless he can guarantee me that John & George will show up.

Yeah, he got 200+ the last time out. As much as I like him, I've seen him already and thought that was too much money. I suppose there's a slight chance I'd go, and it's good he won't be pushing a new album (as far as I know).

I would like to see him. His band fucking KILLS! Abe Laboriel, Jr. is one of the best drummers out there. Of course, you be pretty good too if you had lessons from Jeff Porcaro and Alex Acuna.

Rusty Anderson also rocks. He has killer tone and I love the way he plays the old Beatles tunes.

McCARTNEY RETURNS TO ROCK WITH ‘US’ - 18.04.2005
ALL NEW Beatles, Wings and Solo Concert Tour To Launch In Miami On September 16th; Coincides With New Album Release

Paul McCartney is ready to rock with ‘US’ this fall, nearly four years after his critically hailed, Billboard Magazine Concert Tour of the Year, ‘Back In the U.S.’ swept through the U.S. Since his return to the stage in 2002, after a decade long performance hiatus, millions from countries across the globe have experienced his sold-out concerts.

But Americans can expect the unexpected when ‘US’ kicks off at Miami’s American Airlines Arena on Friday, September 16th. The all-new tour, which is planned to coincide with a new McCartney recording, will be highlighted by the classics from McCartney’s Beatles, Wings and solo career, as well as songs that have yet to be or haven’t been performed on American soil in nearly 15 years.

“We are looking forward to playing again in America,” said McCartney. “They know how to have a good time and we’re there to give it to them. It’ll be fun to visit some new places, to see some old faces and to do things a bit differently this time. We’re ready to rock.”

‘US’ will rock and roll through the United States for 28 performances that will span a nearly 11-week period before its close on Tuesday, November 29th at Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center. While highlights include return visits to Boston’s Fleet Center, New York’s Madison Square Garden, Chicago’s United Center and Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, ‘US’ will mark a first for some. On Thursday, October 27th and on Sunday, October 30th, Des Moines, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska will experience their first EVER Paul McCartney performance (including Beatles and Wings). In addition, Miami and Seattle, amongst other cities, will celebrate McCartney’s return after nearly 15 years.

If McCartney’s appearance at Superbowl XXXIX or his last concert in front of 125,000 muddied fans at England’s prestigious Glastonbury Festival (NME Magazine’s Best Event for 2005) are any indication, fans can expect to see another groundbreaking production.

“Only McCartney can top McCartney,” said Brad Wavra, ClearChannel Entertainment. “But if you think you’ve already seen him, think again.”

AEG/Concerts West representative Paul Gongaware added: “Half the fun of this tour is wondering which songs he’s going to play. There’s so much that we didn’t see in 2002.”

McCartney’s band mates Abe Laboriel, Jr. (drums), Rusty Anderson (guitar), Brian Ray (guitar and bass) and Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards) return for ‘US.’

Tickets for Paul McCartney’s ‘US’ Tour go on sale beginning Saturday, April 23rd. Keep checking this website for more information.

Lexus will be the presenting sponsor of the ‘US’ Tour.

“I’m very pleased to be a part of this new project with Lexus because I think there is a natural fit,” said McCartney.

Mccartney is going to be pushing a new album.I highly reccommend going,as far as needing cash to buy his songs from MJ i doubt it.He is worth almost 2 billion.Id love to see him get that catalog back.

McCartney doesn't need any money to purchase his songs back from Jacko. He's the richest rock star in the world, bar none. I heard he was worth some 700 million. The catalogue might be worth 100-200 million tops.

If you were Macca, and you were that old, and you liked it, of course you would tour.

My least favorite Beatle, and am not that partial to the Beatles to begin with.

Let me know when Yoko hits the road...

Sure, he's rich. But how much of that is "liquid assets" vs being tied up in various investments. I'm sure he doesn't have any problems balancing his checkbook, but it might be easier for him to raise the quick cash this way then to call in the lawyers and accountants to shuffle the paper around.

Usually if someone pre-sells a tour this far in advance anymore it's when they don't have any corporate financing and have to make all the money up front to book the venues. U2 sold their POPmart tickets 9 months in advance. That's a full school year, or the entire term of a pregnancy.Probably more than a few people bought those tickets, and by the time the show got to town, they couldn't go (especially if they were in labor)

But McCartney's got Lexus backing him up, so that's his reason. The tour was probably planned months ago, but I'm thinking the announcement was pushed up because of recent events. Paul wants the Beatles catalog. He'd want it even if the songs weren't half his own, since acquiring music publishing is his main source of income in between tours - which is ironically how Michael Jackson got his hands on Northern Songs/ATV in the first place. Paul advised him to invest in publishing. While you could certainly accuse Jackson of backstabbing, you can't say he didn't listen to the advice.

Well it seems if MJ is about to sell, its going to happen real soon.
If Paul is after funds to buy the catalog, wouldnt he need them
now ?? (I have no doubts he has the funds already)

McCartney could probably get investors involved if he didn't have the total amount of cash right now, then pay them back, if he trusted them.

I am almost positive he is close to being worth 2 billion. He was a billionaire a few years ago and i would be very surprised if he didnt have 200 million to buy his shit back from that kid toucher or the kid touchers bank.

Again, there's a difference between net worth and how much cash he can actually raise at a moments notice. For all we know he might have cut a post dated check already. Certainly he's good for it, with or without this tour. But it's easier to move the "liquid" cash that will be rolling in as of Saturday than it is to sell off stocks, bonds, or whatever.
