"
Took myself outta New York City
But New York won't leave me alone
I found everything I needed there
In a Deli right down the street
It's always in my blood
The last place I felt at home
Chewing up the great Big Apple
You learn to love the smell of the streets

THERE'S ROCK 'N' ROLL IN NEW YORK CITY
AND LOTS OF THINGS TO GET ON DOWN
LIFE CAN GET HARD IN NEW YORK CITY
BUT I'LL BE BACK TO ROCK THAT TOWN
JUST STICK AROUND

Either I had nails for breakfast
Or the day just wasn't right
Face to face with sheer brutality
Concrete cold reality
Part of me just couldn't stay
Part of me just can't break away
Survivin' New York City
Is an impressive fact indeed

THERE'S ROCK 'N' ROLL IN NEW YORK CITY
AND LOTS OF THINGS TO GET ON DOWN
LIFE CAN GET HARD IN NEW YORK CITY
BUT I'LL BE BACK TO ROCK THAT TOWN
JUST STICK AROUND "

CORRECT!

Have you heard their new album, "Another hostile takeover"?

It was released about two weeks ago...it's even better than the first comeback album!

Try this one, it's a semi-obscure one...

*******************************

I've been here since '81
That's a long time
I've seen all there is to see

Had a space on Astor Place
Had it all once
Now these streets
Are my reality

Because
New York City
Don't mean nothing
It's just a good place when you're running
Lights they cut so bright they make you bleed

Neon children live their lives there
Mad magicians tinsel nightmares
Still you know I'm never gonna leave

Never sleep alone on the subway
Never walk alone on the tracks
Never take a ride to the edge of your mind
Unless you've got a ticket back
Don't believe in T.V. preachers
Don't believe in talk show stars
Never follow trends if they turn on your friends
Just be sure you know who your friends are

'Cause if you're running blind
On a refueled mind
Better watch the time
Careful you don't go too far

Never burn the bridges before you
Never burn the bridges behind
Don't burn the one that you're walking on
You're gonna hit the water in time

Don't believe in expectations
Don't believe in shooting stars
If you make a stand on a dead empty hand
Never let 'em see your cards

'Cause if you're running blind
On a refueled mind
Better watch the time
Careful you don't go too far
Too far

Can't you hear...

New York City
Don't mean nothing
It's just a good place when you're running
Still you know I'm never gonna leave

"I'm goin' to New York City
I've never really been,
I just like the way it sounds
All the girlies are all so pretty
There must be somethin' happenin'
It's just too big a town!"

yeah, but we have to go to LA for the drive-bys ;)

Actually, shock to all, NYC was listed as one of the safest cities recently.

She came out with her best friend for the summer in L. A.
They took a spot and plopped down on the beach
You find them there near every day

And I said
California guys all can't peel their eyes
From that girl from New York City
And L. A. boys all heard the noise
About that girl from New York City

We'll turn 'em on with all the things that will be happening night and day
We'll show them such a groovy time that they'll both be decidin' to stay

And let me say
California guys all can't peel their eyes
From that girl from New York City
And L. A. boys all heard the noise
About that girl from New York City

California guys all can't peel their eyes
From that girl from New York City
And L. A. boys all heard the noise

ive been to New York City its a lot ckeaner and safer there now. I did not feel unsafe at all.

Speaking of La, i road triped all over southern california, spent most of my time in San Diego but made stops in Santa Monica, Long beach- (visited west coast choppers was really cool), Hollywood and heres the funny thing we accidently ended up in Compton!!. Nothing happened. Its all glorified Hollywood myths.

Go down the village with no expectations and you will have a great time. Spontenaity is the key to enjoying NYC.

Enjoy this great city, my home...

Best,

Be sure to tell the locals how much you think US Soldiers are war criminals.

They get a real laugh out of that one.

They get a real laugh out of that one. Unlike many Americans abroad, I know how to behave when in a foreign country.

Which doesn´t mean that if someone politely insists on hearing my opinion he won´t get it!

BTW, many are war criminals even by your own country´s standards!

I lived in NYC in the late 80's. I have to agree, it's much cleaner and safer now. When I lived in NYC, Times Square was dirty sleazy porno joints, the city was always filthy with dirt and trash. Things were not well maintained at all. NYC was bankrupt and the city looked the part. It still was exciting in many ways though.

I like NYC the way it is now though. It's still NYC but a lot of the bad stuff of the past has been cleaned up and there's actually more to do. Central Park has never looked better.

The city that is becoming the place I can't even stand to visit now is Los Angeles. I hate the traffic. If you use the subway, you can get around NYC much easier and it has way better night life. LA in many ways is a has been. I even enjoyed the beaches on Long Island better than the Calif beaches.

Yes, Rudy cleaned up the city. Visit soon before Fernando Ferrer takes over and turns back the clock.
