Perry Farrell's Makin' Music...With the Guy From Extreme

Ex-Jane's Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza co-founder Perry Farrell hasn't given up making music since Jane's Addiction dissolved for a second time last year. He has a new project, called the Satellite Party, and he says that one of the musicians involved might be a little surprising: "The person that you might know that is playing guitar is Nuno Bettencourt. He's one of the great guitarists. He was in the group Extreme, and he's gonna be playing guitar. But what we have is a hybrid of electronics, live musicians, dancers and fine artists."
Percussionist Gabriele Corcos, who's married to actress Debi Mazar, is the third regular member of the Satellite Party. Farrell, who says the music is a combination of rock, electronica, house and hip-hop, plans to stage the act's first live appearance at this summer's Lollapalooza, scheduled for July 23rd and 24th in Chicago, Illinois.
The Satellite Party has been recording its debut album for several months, although Farrell says that he doesn't see it coming out until 2006.
Guests on the record include guitarist John Frusciante and bassist Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, Porno For Pyros guitarist Peter DiStefano, New Order bassist Peter Hook and former Chili Peppers/Pearl Jam drummer Jack Irons.
Farrell told MTV.com that he also hopes to make a new album next year with Porno For Pyros, the band he formed in the mid-Nineties after Jane's Addiction first broke up.

Well, between Flea and Peter Hook on bass, and Irons on drums, and with Nuno, it certainly won't be lacking for musicianship. But that doesn't guarantee it will work.(i.e. Navarro in the Chili Peppers). Be interesting to hear anyway....

That should be a very interesting record. I do think Nuno could play some great guitar on it if Perry holds him back a bit...

Am I the only person on Earth that really liked ONE HOT MINUTE by the CHILI PEPPERS?

Sounds very good, especially if it's with Nuno.

Anyone like Extreme here?

Nuno is one rockin' guitarist!

Extream is one of those bands that hits you with an awesome tune but then hits you with a craper.

Nuno is great player. i saw them live once at a club back in 95 and they were great.

They had tunes like Get the funk out, Hip today, Kid ego, Rest in peace, Tragic comic- great acoustic tune. War heads, Mutha dont want to go to school.

Most people just pin More than words and leave it at that.

You need to look past that. they had some good ones.

Nuno great guitar player, Gary great frontman and singer. he is a good showman just did not fit in with VH.

He has a freddie mercury/paul stanley and even a little DLR quality to his stage performance/antics

Some of their lyrics were just fucking painful.

Moma don't wanna go to school today(because I'm 34 and in a rock band?)

I think their real problem was that Nuno Tenniscourt went up his own ass. Bettingshop wrote the whole of 3 Sides himself and presented it to the band. They should have told him it sucked and they might have had a longer career.

Gazing longingly into a man who is wearing nail varnish's eyes during the More Than Words video maybe sent out some dodgy signals.

Apart from that I quite liked Pornografitti.

Well stated Sesh. The problem was always two-fold: Gary's painful, VHIII Foreshadowing lyrics and Nuno's out of control "I'm a genius" silliness (Also foreshadowing VHIII). He is a great player but never understood how to edit himself and I'm not sure he has learned since then.

If this is true Perry Farrell, it'll be super artsy for a day kinda thing, but will leave you with a terrible hangover..
