I just saw previews for this shit. Of course "reality" tv has run out of gas but this preview I just saw was pathetic. It starts next week on NBC. I guess the premise is all of these old bands compete for a new hit or something? They showed Loverboy, The Knack and that 867-5309 Tommy Tutone guy? Does this sound stupid or entertaining at all?

If it gets The Knack enough press to get their Carnegie Hall concert released on DVD, it will be a good thing. I don't give a fuck what anybody says, those guys were a great band, and the only thing that killed them was Capitol Records trying to market them as "the New Beatles.

I haven't seen this.

It won't be as gay as AMERICAN IDOL.

At least these guys aren't doing karaoke.

Too bad someone's not here to start a thread on it.

Its a UK show, the UK series finished last night, Shakin' Stevens won. I think its quite a good idea, personally. We actually had a couple of American acts on (Shalamar, Gloria Gaynor).

What happens is, artists of the past perform their biggest (in some cases only) hit plus a cover version of a new(ish) song. The winner of the series release a double A-side featuring the 2 songs they performed on the show.

It is a Pop Idol (sorry, American Idol) type of thing. The UK have a knack of creating programmes like this. We had one called X-Factor last year, Sharon Osbourne (I HATE her) was one of the judges. There was 3 catergories-one for groups, one for 16-25, one for 26+ (yes, you had people of about 80 auditioning).

By the way, I think you're getting the guy who presnted it over here. Try to see if you can understand what he is saying over there. Hes from Bolton. And its very NORTHERN humour.

Sounds like that Bands Reunited show on VH1 to me.

As Shaun said, it's just finished here..(didn't watch it personally) but the trailers for it had.. OMG... Tiffany singing 'I think we're alone now'.. barf!! and that kinda stuff.. oldies with hits and the old one hit wonders. Nostalgic Saturday dinner time stuff. (not my scene). Although I admit to liking and buying when it was out.. 'One and Only' by Chesney Hawkes... :D
