View Full Version : Winger Question

So I'm listening to the radio at work last night, and I turn over to the "Hard" channel on my PA...get a couple of songs through it, and then there's this great song that starts playing, really catchy riff, good lyrics, just really awesome, I think...sounds somewhat dated, but not that much, maybe mid 90s I'm thinking?

Anyway, I go back to check out the listing for the track, and it's a song called "Down Incognito" by Winger...and I'm thinking "What the fuck?"...only song I ever heard from Winger was "She's Only 17", and I didn't like it...but this "Down Incognito" thing was REALLY catchy, I thought, very cool track...

So, two questions surface -

#1: What album can I find this on? And...

#2: Is the rest of the album like that (that style, anyway), or was that one song just something apart from the norm? If it's just that song, I'll just go pay fifty cents to download it somewhere rather than buying the whole thing, but I do want a copy of it.

Thanks in advance.

Why don't you ask Kip himself? ;)

"Down Incognito" is on the album "Pull" - second song...

It's off the Pull album.

I personally can't stand that album. Which by a process of elimination probably means I quite like the other two.

Oh help me! Help me.

Is the rest of the album the same sound?

i'm listening to it now

the things i put myself through

actually i'm pleasantly surprised

the first song gets better after the overly long intro

it's quite varied, nothing else much like Down Incognito though

i've said this before and i'll say it again i've always rated reb beach as one hell of a guitar player

Agreed. It's too bad he got tossed in with the rest of the 80's hairband guitarists.

Bob, "Pull" isn't that strong of an effort. You can probably hear the whole thing at Amazon.

I will have to dig that one out of the box...have not heard it in years.

I remember liking 'Down Incognito' but can not remember the rest of that cd.

yup. Winger are a guilty pleasure of mine,

I like Hungry too, some of the other stuff is quite "typical 80s hair metal rubbish",but other stuff is quite fun

It's painful...

I interviewed Kip for this site a few years ago...and the guy is a fucking egotistical prick...

he definately has the Edthing going of thinking shit is owed to him...

I personally don't think any of his shit is a guilty pleasure...it overtly sucks...and doesn't stand up to much of the other "80's rubbish" that DOES stand the test of time...

Burn your Winger discs while there is still time...

Winger had their moments. Pull is actually heavier than the first 2 CDs. The second one, In the Heart of the Young, was massively overproduced and rather sucked compared to the music of the time. I enjoyed the first album back in 88 and Pull was a rare hard rock album in the 90s.

Reb Beach is definitely a kick ass guitarist.

Why don't you just get the greatest hits album? It has several songs off the Pull album (including Down Incognito) and all the radio hits from the first 2 albums. Thankfully, it doesn't have the horrendous Hendrix cover of Purple Haze on it.
