ALAE actually chart outperformed in the UK as opposed to in the US. It reached No.4 in the UK album charts, as opposed to the No.18 in the US.

this was the best chart placing of any V.H/DLR album!

anyone who was on the scene at the time understand why???(aside from the greatest of the album and the British excellent music taste..lol).

does anyone know how many copies it sold in the UK?

Not a failure...just the turning point, if you will.

So when people wanna bag on Dave and talk about his career falling off, they start with ALAE cuz it didn't hit platinum.

it was an over all turning point in rock music...and didn't turn into something better with nirvana and all this shit...

well I hardly see how Gold is a failure, I mean Alice Cooper keeps going with album after album and he's only had 1 album which has received certification since about 1980.

I just think, perhaps if Dave had stuck to his guns, solo album 4 would have done better, I'm not putting down YFLM,cos I really like it, I just wish Dave had stayed in the public consciousness longer

I agree. the album just rocks!

from ALAE's bold self confidence, to the frentic pace of Hammerhead Shark and Its Showtime, to the smokey blues feeling of Tell the Truth, and then the epic closer which is Drop in the Bucket, and everything inbetween, what a great damned album!

Only one album reaches ALAE, and that is Skyscraper.....
