Apologies if this has already been posted.

I think someone else said somewhere on the forums that this would be a great place for CVH to reunite!

'Live 8' concerts planned for July 2 in U.S., Europe

Associated Press
May. 31, 2005 06:00 AM

LONDON - Organizers of the 1985 Live Aid concerts on Tuesday said five new concerts will take place on July 2 in London, Paris, Berlin, Philadelphia and Rome.

The events are aimed at raising awareness of poverty in developing countries just days before G8 leaders meet in Britain. Organizers didn't immediately announce which artists would perform at the concerts, which will be free and are not intended to raise funds.

Venues include London's Hyde Park, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and the Circus Maximus in Rome. Organizers didn't immediately say where the Philadelphia concert would take place.

They said there were plans for concerts in other cities in G8 countries, but didn't give further details. Japan, Canada and Russia are the three other nations in the G8.

The event will be called Live 8. It's being organized by Bob Geldof, the driving force behind the Band Aid and Live Aid campaigns for African famine relief.

I wonder if Kylie Minogue will be on the bill?

I have a dream that Ed and Al yank Mike away from Sam, call Dave to the studio and the four of them rehearse and jam a few CVH songs for a reunion performance at Live 8!

Oh, a fan can dream......

Don't quite know what I think of this yet.

Talk around the Philly area is that the show will be on the Ben Franklin Parkway.

Anyone from the area or surrounding areas knows what a fucking nightmare that will be.

Although I'd give my left nut to see Dave, Ed, Al, and Mike standing on the steps of the Art Museum with fireworks going up over their fucking heads!

That is a supremely shitty list in every fucking way.

Couldn't agree more, Rikk. Except for VR in London I can't think of a single act I want to see (Brian Wilson in Paris, maybe). Hopefully the holdout list has some better names on it.

The Philly list is a steaming pile of shit, in terms of my musical tastes. They should still do well and raise money for a good cause.

All that list needs is a little Classic VAN HALEN!!!

This is a great opportunity to kick things off!!

Of course, Ed an Al, who are infamous for 'missed opportunities', will likely pass this one up too.

Fuckers.

Yup.

Here's my take on the list...

London - Hyde Park
Mariah Carey - Fucking psycho idiot crap pop singer.

Dido - Who gives a shit?
Keane - Who?
Elton John - Yay!!!!!! Play some Disney songs!
Annie Lennox - Yawn.
Madonna - Eh, talented...but can't there be some rock bands or are rock festivals dead?
Paul McCartney - Wow, a real rock legend. Any others?
Muse -
Razorlight - Who?
REM - Wow, a good band...but not a really great live one.
Scissor Sisters - Who?
Stereophonics - Yay!
Sting - If this were a real LIVE AID, you would have brought THE POLICE.
Joss Stone - Yay!
Robbie Williams - who cares?
U2 - Oh, break up already!
Velvet Revolver - Wow, a good band!
Bob Geldof - You wouldn't ever play anywhere if you didn't organize concerts.
The Killers - Tired of these guys.
The Cure - Pretty good band, but c'mon...this is not a rock festival.

Philadelphia Museum of Art

There is only one person I would remotely want to see, and that is Annie Lennox, however I saw her at the Ryman here in Gnashville a couple of years ago, so I will just say this is an event that was MADE TO IGNORE!!!!!

When I first heard about it this morning, I was actually looking forward to it.

Now that I've seen the lineup, let's just say I think that's the day I'll clip my toenails.

Could it be any shitter?

Who let Bon Jovi on the godamn bill?

Where are The Darkness?

Where are Jet?

Where is Jools Holland?

Where are the GOOD new bands?

Queen + PR can't play because they are doing a concert in Lisbon-possibility of direct live camera satilite whatjamaju.

Their best bet would have been to get the bands who played the original Live Aid show.

It would be interesting to see the bands now.

I could book a better line up with my eyes closed, hands behind my back, ass hanging out, throat slit, vommitting blood whilst getting hobbled by Kathy Bates.
