Alexandro Jodorowsky's Sante Sangre - some amazing images that will twist and delight.

Takashi Miike's Odishon (Audition), Bizita Q (Visitor Q)..hell, every movie he makes is fucking brilliant.

Shinya Tsukamoto's Tetsuo:The Iron Man and Tokyo Fist (avoid Tetsuo 2) - Tetsuo is just jaw dropping and geek out cool the first time you see it.

Brad Anderson's Session 9 - creepy and atmospheric. They fimed this in an abandoned mental hospital.

Neil Marshall's Dog Soldiers - think Trainspotting mixed with Predator; throw in werewolves for fun.

Yimou Zhang's Ying xiong (Hero) and
Shi mian mai fu (House of Flying Daggers) - both are just amazing but I favor Hero.

Mezro...just a start...let me know if you fine fuckers want more...

The Time Of Their Lives - Abbott and Costello

Killer Klowns was great, agreed

Ford Fairlane rocked. Fave part of that is when Ford is walking down a flight of stairs to his car, saying "money, money, money, money, blehgalagujah!"

Also:

Exorcist 2

I dunno....like a few others, I have seen "Ford Fairlane" and also "Nighthawks", so I'm not sure those count.

I kind of like "Big Trouble In Little China"....cornball chop-sockey spoof.

For something really out there, I picked up "Freaks" on dvd not too long ago....featuring microcephalics (pinheads) and others with physical conditions. It's from the 30's, would definitely disturb some younger people, but it's got the classic good v. evil/romance story line.

After seing that movie, I think I should have gone to see a shrink...

It made me realise that a man can really be that jealous and possessive...
Hell some guys kill out of jealousy!

But what happens to Helena, in that movie, is far worst than being killed (for me).

I have several films by Akira Kurosawa on tape....

Widely regarded by all the great directors (Spielberg, Kubrick, Coppola, Huston, etc.) as the greatest film director who ever lived....

I have The Seven Samurai (regarded by many in the industry as the greatest movie ever made), Sinjuro and Throne Of Blood, as well as one or two more whose titles I cannot recall.

YES!!! CALIGULA!!!

Here is one I bet nobody has ever seen:

Late 60's musical called "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying". Originally a successful Broadway play, it follows a young businessman's rise from the mail room of some large international conglomerate in New York to the position of Chairman Of The Board...all within about a week.

The 80s flick "The Secret Of My Success" with Michael J. Fox I think was loosely based on it (without any stupid songs).

Saw a really bad one once called The House Next Door, with Sean Young and Theresa Russell. Also saw Whore with Theresa Russell. Also this cheesy soft-core porn movie in the early 80s called the Beach Girls, starring Jeana Tomasina, who was one of the chicks in all those ZZ Top vids of the same period (she was the only one in all 3 of the Eliminator vids)

Yeah thats another classic. I went through a phase a couple of years back where all I watched were Chinese Kung Fu movies lol. Then people like Jet Li and Jackie Chan moved to Hollywood and got watered down, I kinda lost interest after that. But Chan was an absolute powerhouse, especially back in the 80's...I swear, how the guy is still alive beats the piss outta me.

Sounds like reverse logic to me (so I SHOULD take 'cid and watch the movie, right?!)

Anyway, my contribution for the thread:

Close to Eden - subtitled foreign film about this Mongolian plainsman/sheepherder guy who laments the passing of the 'old' ways and fantasizes about the second coming of Ghengis Khan. Cool watching his interaction with the Russian guy he meets. Not for people who only like summer blockbuster shoot-em-up movies. The standout scenes are:

(1) watching the mongol kill a sheep for dinner, this will leave most people in breathless awe from the way he does it (apparently this was a special dinner gift for the Russian guy who almost didn't grasp the significance of what the mongol family was doing for him).

(2) The mongol's daughter playing the accordion

(3) The russian guy requesting the band play a song, and when they don't know it, he shows them the sheet music... which he has tatoo'd on his back!

Warning - unless you are into slower moving, poignant and reflective films, you will probably go to sleep or think this movie sucks, but as I said, not for the superficial.

Sharon Stone (pre-Basic Instinct) was in that one wasn't she? I never trust remakes.

Actually, there's another King Solomon's Mines that was made in 1938, I think, and starred Sir Cedric Hardwick, the same guy who played the old Pharoah in The Ten Commandments. I haven't seen it.

You betcha! It was a real movie.

At the time, KISS was invincible...and thought they could put just about anything out there and it would sell.

However, in my opinion, it marks the moment when KISS "jumped the shark."

Some more of my own personal cult classics come to mind:

'Omega Man' with Charlton Heston

'Lonely are the Brave' with Kirk Douglas

'The Town that Dreaded Sundown' true story about a serial killer that was never captured.

'Shakes the Clown' awful or wickedly funny depending on the mix of booze and recreational drugs you are taking.

Dude...you have kewel taste in Film!!!

Omega Man blew my mind so much when I was about 12 that I asked my Mom for the book for my birthday and she got it for me (I Am Legend by Richard Matheson).

I was a huge Kirk Douglas fan as a kid. The War Wagon, The Vikings, etc. Lonely Are The Brave was a trip.

And Shakes The Klown.....LMFAO!!!

Who could forget Aunt Esther sipping booze at the bar and having this little conversation:

At the time, KISS was invincible...and thought they could put just about anything out there and it would sell.

However, in my opinion, it marks the moment when KISS "jumped the shark."

I'd sooner be duct-taped to a chair and forced to watch "Ishtar" or "Shanghai Surprise" multiple times before I'd watch "Phantom of the Park." :D

The funny part about watching it is seeing Ace and Peter treating the whole thing like the goof it was, and Paul and Gene actually taking the shit seriously.

"Gene's brother was an only child!"

"Ack!"

I Saw the old Batman movie it was a trip.

Last night on Spike TV they had Jackie Chan's "Project A".

Great Hong Kong kung fu movie with lotsa peeps getting their asses kicked and lotsa furniture and windows and stuff getting broken....bascially wherever Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung were, it was as if they were small tornados that tore up their immediate environment...

Yeah, I'm a real glutton for punishment.... I actually bought the DVD!

It has it's moments, like HardRock brought up... 'Peanut butter pussy', and the whole mime, clown, and rodeo clown rivalry/heirarchy.

The mimes just freaking and scared shitless when they see the clowns coming. Who would've known! lol

"You clowns are on drugs!" (who hasn't heard that before, hahaha)

Also, don't forget Binky is now the voice of Spongebob.

Oh yeah, forgot to say I caught the tail end of War Wagon just a few days before your post! (on AMC I think). Damn it makes you depressed to see all that gold get lost. But hey, it went to a good cause.

Coulda been worse....the very FIRST time I saw Treasure Of The Sierra Madres with Bogie I was tripping on acid while playing cards with some friends.

I kinda freaked out at the end, where they get in the dust storm and all the gold dust blows away....

"They went through ALL THAT SHIT FOR NOTHING!!!!"
