N. Korea Building Bombs, Its Envoy Says

From Associated Press

SEOUL — A top North Korean official said Wednesday that his government was building more nuclear bombs and implied that it was able to mount nuclear warheads on its missiles.

Vice Foreign Minister Kim Gye Gwan, the country's top envoy to stalled nuclear disarmament talks, made the comments during a visit to North Korea by ABC News.

"I should say that we have enough nuclear bombs to defend against a U.S. attack. As for specifically how many we have, that is a secret," Kim said, according to a transcript. Asked if the North was building more bombs, Kim responded, "Yes."

Kim declined to specify whether North Korea's long-range missiles could reach U.S. targets. But he implied that the North was able to mount nuclear warheads on its missiles.

"Our scientists have the knowledge, comparable to other scientists around the world," Kim said.

In April, Vice Adm. Lowell E. Jacoby, head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, said the U.S. believed that North Korea had the ability to arm a missile with a nuclear device. But some Western experts expressed doubt that Pyongyang possessed the technical know-how.

U.S. Intensifies Empty-Threat Campaign Against North Korea

WASHINGTON, DC—During a recent press conference, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice issued another warning to North Korea, escalating the U.S. empty-threat campaign against the nation. "Make no mistake, if Kim Jong Il does not put a stop to the manufacturing of plutonium in his nation, we will come down on him quite hard," Rice said. "We demand compliance, and if we don't get it, then watch out." Rice went on to say that noncompliance would result in some action that "would be very bad indeed," adding that North Korea does not want to know what it will be in for.

What would you suggest we do, Nick?

A 100 megaton Coctail for his weapons manufacturing sites?

Sounds like a winner to me.

:gulp:

LOL.. the Onion rocks.

For those of you who missed it, this is satire. I feel compelled to point this out because, sadly, it is actually believable that the Bush administration would make these kinds of comments in real life.

Bush is getting about as far with North Korea as Clinton did. Nowhere.

You can tell it's NOT a Bush quote because he doesn't refer to him as "The Korean"

;)

Yep, you're right. Clinton didn't do anything about terrorism.
