Someone asked Steinbrenner about Mattingly today...here was his reply...
George Steinbrenner responded to a question about Don Mattingly's performance as hitting coach but did not even refer to him by name. Instead, he singled out Manager Joe Torre. "The entire coaching staff is in Torre's hands," the Yankees' principal owner, said through his publicist, Howard Rubenstein. "It's up to Torre. Torre says he can still turn it around. Let's see him do it." GM Brian Cashman hinted that Steinbrenner might be losing patience. "Nothing is imminent on my end, but I can't speak for George," Cashman said. "I make my recommendations."
...doesn't look good for Torre if they continue sucking...
