I love Down on the Corner too

I'm thinking about checking out Fogarty's show, does he do these old school tunes or does he do newer stuff?

Old school, with some newer. I saw him in '98, and what a great show. His band is awesome, he sings and plays exactly as he did in '70 (not that I saw him then:D), and his set list is basically 3/5 CCR chestnuts, plus some solo hits (CENTERFIELD, ROCKIN' ALL OVER THE WORLD) and some new stuff. And it's all good. Very, very good. And it's not like seeing a nostalgia show...this man was CCR. He wrote every beat, every note, played all the important guitar parts, wrote the bass lines...he was a genius. The other guys shouldn't have even had identities. He should have been a solo artist back then.

Sweet Hitchhiker??

Heard it through the grapevine??

Lodi???

Put a candle in the window??

CCR...or Fogarty for that matter...kicks ass.

Didn't he write and arrange everything after he took over??

Ok, thanks Rikk...missed that. :)

Creedence didn't do any bad songs except for that last record. And that's only because Fogerty let the other guys write some songs. Or try. Which they really didn't. And that was the beginning of those fuckers destroying CCR's good name.

Gee,

I thought this was a thread of quotes from the movie Twilight Zone

"Creedence? I love creedence"

"wanna see something really scary"

Don’t go around tonight,
Well, it’s bound to take your life,
There’s a bathroom on the right.

Thank you DG for this thread. I'm in the twilight zone too. :D

1. Pagan baby
2. Ramble tamble
3. Keep on chooglin'
4. Fortunate son
5. It came out of the sky
6. Graveyard train
7. Proud Mary
8. Effigy
9. Penthouse pauper
10. Travelin' band

An anecdote: I sang "I put a spell on you" and "Suzie Q" during a 25 cover song gig on New Year's Eve in a pub in 2001, and we ended at about 4 am with "Travelin band"... oops! I forgot to think a little... I started as high as Mighty John Fogerty does, but my voice kind of exploded as soon as the chorus! :D

Creedence is part of the few who stand on the Olympus. Never forget Fogerty!

Bingo. Those cunts COOK and CLIFFORD didn't write a thing except for that awful last album (and FOGERTY's contributions range from excellent to so-so while the contributions from CLIFFORD to COOK are awful). And then, after destroying the legacy by pushing for one awful album, they then sell Fogerty out, speak about him as the devil for years and then tour as Creedence Clearwater Revisted. It's a joke.

I didn't know that. Thanks Rikk. And Ford.

You all got me play "CCR Live in Europe" on my way to work today. I hadn't played it for a long time, and I remembered why: the sound isn't worth Creedence's music. "In concert" is not much better soundwise IMO.

Creedence are very underrated. Any band that can do an 11 minute version of 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine'.
