I'm kind of fascinated with the concept of the drive-movie theater...Call it some sort of classic AMERICANA fetish or the like, mainly from a bygone era.

I haven't been to one since I was a really little kid, and hardly remember what it was like. But I read in the local paper that the Buffalo area has an above average number of drive in theaters for whatever reason.

I've heard the audio quality is now decent, they play through your car stereo, and you have an excuse to be out really late at night. In fact some run virtually all night here.

Haven't been to one in years...since the 1970s.

Would prefer to go to a drive-in over a googleplex any day, 'cept there aren't any around here.

Haven't been to one since I was a little kid. I dunno if there are even any left in SLC? They were fun as heck when I was young.

We used to have one near my house, but it was torn down before I was even born or really little don't know.

Reason?

It was haunted by a faceless ghost who would scare people in the women's bathroom.

They'll go away wont they? My ribs are still tender but fuck it cos not working out was driving me insane. Back to the full routine now and it feels good. The ribs only suck when I'm laying down and in the morning when I first get up.

You liftin' again?

Yeah. Thank Christ.

The first few times were hell. Completely winded after only a few sets. Now I'm steadily back to about where I was. (A little lighter on the wieghts, with a couple more reps, but it's summer anyway, so better to go for that toned thing anyway)

Should be about 3 more weeks and then i'll find out if some of these scars will really be permanent.

(they're weird b/c it seems DAYS go by with no change, and I'll think "Fuck, look lsike they're staying", but then suddenly I'll wake up and one will have finally closed altogather or at least shrunk dramatically...

That sucks, howeva, unless you really scratched the shit out of them you should be alright. Scarring lessens as one gets older. The one's that usually last foreva happen when one is young.

Glad to hear your back at the gym. I don't do heavy lifting either. Lots of reps and swimming. I dig being toned. I get enough heavy lifting hauling that fatass goat around. :p lol

I went to drive-ins all the time as a kid...

I took my dog to one once in about 1975 haha.

With the FM transmitters they use, you get the sound through your car stereo....

To me, that sounds like a really kickass deal!!!

Not to mention the pirce....usually under 10 bucks a car for 2 flicks, and possibly a cartoon?

As a kid we would always get a cartoon in front of the movie. Sometimes 2. Certainly at drive ins. It was somehow The LAW!!!

So aside from seeing For A Few Dollars More on the Drive-in screen as a li'l chilluns, I would also have seen at least one Wile E. Coyote Warner Bros. Cartoon....

Hey check this link out.....

And here is a pic of my Route 666 Drive-In....

There used to be one in East Greenwich called the Hilltop Drive-In, but it was closed for years. Think there are condos there now.

Guy who owned it also owned the Greenwich and Kent theaters in East Greenwich. Took him years to finally sell those three fuckers. Some sort of zoning bullshit. The Showcase in Warwick pretty much put him out of business by the mid 1980s.

I remember the old window-mounted crap speakers they used to have back in the day with the crappy snack bar featuring cardboard pizzas and malt cups. I think it was the sheer crappy-ness that was their appeal. I remember going with some friends back in high school in some big ass 4X4 trucks....we sat in the back row and shined spot lights through the rear windows of cars. :killer: :tits: :spank:

Muahahahahaaahaaaa!!!

boring , low quality uncomfortable and so on.

maybe if I would own a big cadillac with a good sound system and all the room to stretch; i'm 6.3 so that explains everything!

and it's also a concept from the past.

they should use these drive in theather to have concerts or raves with projection as a back ground, now that would be cool!
