If you are an Emerson, Lake and Palmer fan (so, don't bother replying Academic Punk), you'll HAVE to get the new DVD 'Beyond The Beginning'. Its a lot like AC/DC's 'Family Jewels' DVD in that it has a lot of old TV performances/live performances/promo films etc to make the complete history of the band.

Here is what it has...

DISC 1

Before the beginning
-Fire (Crazy World of Arthur Brown-Carl Palmer on drums)
-America (The Nice-Keith Emerson on keyboards)
-21st Century Schizoid Man (King Crimson-Greg Lake on vocals/bass)

ELP in Pictures
-Take A Pebble
-Knife Edge
-Rondo/Pictures At An Exhibition
-Rondo
-Lucky Man
-Tarkus (Eruption)
-Hoedown
-Tank
-Still...You Turn Me On
-Karn Evil 9
-I Believe In Father Christmas
-Honky Tonk Train Blues
-Tocatta
-Fanfare For The Common Man
-Pirates
-Tiger In The Spotlight
-Watching Over You
-Tarkus
-Touch And Go

Extras
-Unseen Rehersal film from 1973
-Unseen Brands Hatch celebrity motor race
-Exclusive interview with Bob Moog
-Analysis of album covers

DISC 2

Live At The Califoria Jam, 1974
-Tocatta
-Still...You Turn Me On
-Lucky Man
-Piano Improvisations
-Take A Pebble
-Karn Evil 9 (1st Impression pt 2)
-Karn Evil 9 (3rd Impression)
-Spinning Piano
-Great Gates of Kiev

An Hour-Long Documentry:
-"Beyond The Beginning"

I give it 10/10

I`m watching it now.

Pity there`s only one song from "The works" tour with the orchestra.

Yes, I would have liked to have seen 'Pictures At An Exhibition' with the orchestra, amongst others.

Still, I love that version of 'Pirates'. Was that shown on the Whistle Test?

Also, I would have liked more from 'Isle of Wight' festival, as it was their first performance (except for a small gig a few days earlier in front of 400 people of the industry etc).

Dunno.

There is more of that gig.

I remember seeing "Tarkus" with the orchestra.

Unless they`re holding back for a full length release.

Ditto "The Isle of Wight" and the Milan 1973 stuff.

I know the rest of it exists as well, I have seen a lot more of it on another DVD I have called 'Welcome Back', which is about ELPs reunion in 1992.

Actually, I think it may already have been released. I saw a DVD advertised about a year ago called "Works Live".
