We are only the third country who have passes such a law. This in my mind is a wonderful thing and makes me even prouder to be a Canadian.

Congrats on being a progressive country, Hosers!

But wasn't it just the House of Commons today? Doesn't it still have to go through your other House and then to the PM. (Thought that's what they said on TV anyway)

I'm sure JizzyStool is getting ready to head across the border and find the man of his dreams who can satisfy his never ending HUNGER FOR COCK!!

UGS' Lesson in Canadian Civics:

Pretty much FORD. . .the bill was passed by the House of Commons (the PM is a member of the House) so now the Senate has to pass it. It's pretty much just a formality now, and will happen within the next week. After that, the Governor General (the Queen's representative in Canada, who is our Head-of-State, not the PM) approves it, and then it becomes law.

Going agains gay marriage goes against Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms-- which all of our laws are based upon. All of the provinces except a couple have already said gay marriage was okay. Alberta (aka Texas North) hasn't, but no one really cares except for Stephen Harper.

One more thing to add, unlike US Senators, Canada's members of the Senate are appointed by the Prime Minister and not democratically elected. . .even more reason to know the bill will pass.

Damn Canadian Communists........................sorry Damn Canadain Socialists. Just Kidding. It seems though the Canada trying to become more popular by trying to get Homosexual Americans across the border :). My opinion on Gay Marriage is that it shouldn't be legal beacuse to me it seems more to me about people getting money off of taxes than love. I personally have no problems against Gays, but I just don't think they should get married because it just seems like a tax exemption to me.

I guess a law allowing you to marry your pet in Canada isn't too far off now. ;)

...Or a way to protect their property rights, personal medical decisions, and inheritance. But I guess you should have more rights and legal protections than somebody because they happen to be gay? And you could make that "it' about money, not love" argument about many heterosexual couples, including a few I've known.

Personally, I think no one should be allowed to marry...giving up half your assets? But if people have the right to control their financial matters without relatives chiming in after death. Of course, this is one example where the Christian right has been somewhat morally consistent, in that they really didn't have much respect for the SCHIAVO marriage either... But then again, that was about the money too.;)

DAMN! There's a tax exemption for being married? Why didn't someone tell me???

(Canada hasn't had a marriage exemption for years, unless your spouse has 0 earnings)

how can you equate the marriage of two people who love each other to the marrying of an animal...do you relize how bigoted and hateful you sound?

I get such a kick over the way that quote gets twisted. He was being interviewed in my home town, where he spends a LOT of time. What he actually said that Canada is like a loft party with really good friends having a quiet good time together over a really huge out of control, a bunch of assholes going nuts, party.

He's yet another celebrity in love with this great land. :)

What I immediately realized upon hearing this is that these men and women LEGALLY married can come into the U.S., get a job with Medical and other insurance benefits, and the U.S. can't do anything about it.

I want to thank the Canadians for such a bold move.

This particular regime in power in the U.S. is finished or the U.S. is finished.

Get water, get food, get ready.

I'm a partier.

I know that the BEST party isn't the party downstairs, it's the parties everyone sneaks off to.

Here's to you Canada.

ps Robin is a comedian and just tries to say something funny everybody will laugh at. His comments are not truth. They're his comedy material. Big difference.

I think it's really great that Raw Materials, errr, Canada has gay marriage. To each his own. I have no real problem with gay marriage and if it works for lumberjacks I really don't care who is flipping their flapjacks as long as the lumber keeps coming for my addition.

And as long as it keeps Sasquatch, err, Angel up north...:)
