View Full Version : Live 8 On TV In US!

I didn't know this, but LIVE 8 will actually be broadcast and VH1 is advertising that they are going to cover the major acts today, starting at 12:00 Noon EST, and will got to 8:00PM.

Unless I am mistaken, I believe they will be shifting from all the venues to get the acts that people will want to see. I know I'll be taping and I may try to torrent the major acts in the unlikely event few others do.

Link: VH1 (http://www.vh1.com/news/live_8/)

Happy watching; pity no Classic VAN HALEN though.

My local station is now playing Like A Stone (or whatever the fuck) by Audioslave.

Chris Cornell sounds like SHIT! SHIT SHIT SHIT!!!

If someone sang like this in a cover band at a shitty bar they'd get kicked out....

VH1's coverage sucks! I'm all for the debt relief and all that, but it's just a fucking highlights show thus far...how about playing a complete set of like PINK FLOYD instead of the snapping message?

I guess one little tidbit I found interesting, one of the talking heads said that WATERS and GILMOUR were hanging out together, alone, backstage talking.

Maybe that's a good sign? For those interested in a full-time Floyd reunion, talking can't be taken as a bad thing, I suppose.

FUCK MTV AND VH1 IN THE ASSES WITH RUSTY CHAINSAWS!!!

This is BULLSHIT. You have a concert of this significance, in order to raise awareness on an issue of huge importance to the entire planet, no less....

SHOW THE FUCKING GODDAMNED CONCERT, NOT THE MINDLESS MTV TWITS BABBLING.

Live Aid 85 concert coverage was nearly flawless... wall to wall music from fucking 4:30 in the morning until 8:00 at night.

This year, you don't even get to see the entire fucking song.

GODDAMNED CORPORATE FUCKING WHORES ARE SO AFRAID SOMEONE MIGHT GET TO ENJOY SOME MUSIC BEFORE THEY HAVE TO PAY 39.95 FOR A FUCKING DVD THAT WON'T BE RELEASED FOR ANOTHER 20 FUCKING YEARS.  :gun:

Big Fat Sammy

Right on FORD....and the money made from DVD sales will be from diehard Floyd fans who's gotta buy a double disc set of mostly bullshit, to get 3 songs.

They would raise more money and awareness by just showing it rather than selling, or trying to sell it.

I am really surprised this isnt being shown on a major network in the USA, whats up with that?
Its being shown here on a major canadian channel, whats the story behind this?
Unreal....
I'm just waiting for Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, The Guess Who and maybe the Crue, although Elton John was OK since he played a few of his old 70's tunes....

monkeythe
07-02-2005, 01:24 PM
In all fairness to MTV, they can't show Floyd because it hasn't happened yet (although they probably won't show it when it happens). As far as Audioslave goes, I think there is a problem with the German feed. None of the mixes from that concert sounded too good. By the way, who was is the German Ryan Seacrest wannabe that is appearing between the acts? Canada is also majorly screwed up as they have no idea what they are doing. The acts are appearing out of order and there have been major delays. For some reason in the US the shows are being cut down from 4 to 3 songs so maybe there is going to be something big at the end

monkeythe
07-02-2005, 01:25 PM
It's going to be on ABC primetime for a few hours tonight, after the show is over. They have to make sure the F word don't go out over the air

I have a list of the order of performances that has been accuarate so far, so if you're waiting for anything in particular I hope this helps

London - Snoop Dogg, Razorlight, Madonna, Snow Patrol, Joss Stone, Scissor Sisters, Velvet Revolver, The Killers, Sting, Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams, The Who, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney

US - Will Smith, Toby Keith, Dave Matthews, Alicia Keys, Def Leppard, Linkin Parkk w/Jay Z, Sarah McLaghlin, MAroon 5, Keith Urban, Jars of Clay, Rob Thomas, Stevie Wonder

Canada has been having problems all day and their list has been messed up. The ending act should be Neil Young

DLR7884
Is he really that emotional?

Yes, it's surprising. He looked as if he had shitted in his pants when he started singing his first lines in "Wish you were here".
He fortunately got better quickly. Just a three-song set is way too short, as they did a great gig.

But they've done it at last, and it's all that counts. It's a true victory over pride, resentment and stubbornness.
Are they going to carry on any further? Who knows? Above all: what do they want to do next?

I didn't see Rick Wright's face, but Nick Mason looked delighted.
Roger Waters seemed to have a great time, and I'd bet he would love to join the band again...
Dave Gilmour was damn good from beginning to end; what comes next depends on his will, I think.

Gilmour had pulled the plug on Fake Floyd anyway, so if any band ever tours again under that name, it should be the real thing.

Probably won't be this year though, because the Stones & McCartney already have the "Big Ticket" market sewn up.

Many bad things were said back in the 80s, mainly in 1987 when they released their first record without Waters who legally tried to prevent them from using the band name. He got really mean and even cynical to the other three.
And Waters had fired Wright a few years before... The past is very heavy with negative stuff.

If they do join together again, Gilmour will have to be canonized!:D

Go to aol for the download, they are repeating everything, and you can see Berlin, Paris, London, Philly, Rome, etc...

http://music.aol.com/live_8_concert/live_now

Also, your local radio station should be covering it as well....

In Philly, WMMR and WYSP, in NYC 104.3 Q104.....

Floyd were great, McCartney was good, U2 were awesome, the Green Day cover of Champions was very kool...Audioslave was not as good as they should be, Crue were ok.....etc etc....

BTW, I agree nobody want's to hear the talking idiots on MTV and VH1....

I was pissed when they cut out of Floyd....

Gilmour had pulled the plug on Fake Floyd anyway, so if any band ever tours again under that name, it should be the real thing.

Probably won't be this year though, because the Stones & McCartney already have the "Big Ticket" market sewn up.

it would take them a year to come up with a stage and light show anyways.

think they'd do one last disc, then a tour?

I hope they tour first, since it seems to be Waters perfectionism in the studio that broke them up the last time :(

No shit. the stupid bitch cuts out saying ...

"history being made here as you can see...."

WTF? Why would you talk over history being made?

MTV sucks

I thought they were going to skip the entire outro to Numb and I was about to flip the fuck OUT.

(Best solo ever, IMO. )

In all fairness to MTV, they aren't used to musicians actually playing their instruments. They are used to just filming them for reality shows or having clips of their private lives on that they can discuss. I think that they were just trying to play BOILING POINTS with their audience today and see how long it would take for you to change the channel. Unfortunately, they ran out of time as the show was supposed to end with Ashton Kutcher telling you that you had been PUNKED

LOL, MTV really needs to learn to lay music videos just like they did from 1981-1996.

I missed the majority of it...hell, it's probably still going on. I flipped channels during the Pepsi 400 rain delay, and caught a bit of The Who and a bleep of the Floyd show.

I changed the channel back to the rain delay when Bono came on mumbling some incoherent shit in a pair of mc hammer spectacles.

Gilmour was ruling in what I saw of the Floyd set.

I didn't watch a second of it.

Finally saw that on the ABC coverage (which was badly edited, but slightly less sucky than eMpTyV)

I think Billie Joe sang that song a Hell of a lot better than Paul Rodgers. And don't get me started on that fag Robbie what's his useless ass.

DMC played at the Canadian Live 8 show. Yep thats right he's the other half of RUN DMC.

The weird thing though is his band consisted of Aerosmiths Joey Kramer and Todd Hamilton. They did All along the Watchtower and Walk This Way with the singer from Buckcherry doing the Tyler parts.

A new album would be nice too to go along with a real farewell tour.

He was kinda shaky on "Wish You Were Here", but given the situation, I'm not surprised.

He did much better on Comfortably Numb.

The Pink Floyd Set is available for download at www.tradersden.org

Be patient, the site is moving slow (for obvious reasons)

they may have other parts of the show there as well.

For those of you who don't have bandwidth or hard drive space enough for the previously mentioned Pink Floyd download, there is a low-res Quicktime file available at www.crooksandliars.com

scroll down the page a little and you'll find the Floyd link. right click save as...etc.
