My opinion of him has been permanently altered in the negative.

Yeah, that's what I first thought.

Maybe you should confirm that one, Sharky.

Again, I don't know of the original source of this list. It is nevertheless interesting.

Actually he has been a scientologist for at least 15 years.

Nice thing is, he does not push it on anyone.

Whatever people want to believe is their business.

I just get irritated when people publicly support religious con artists.

I'm going to start my own religion, too! What a grate fucking idea! I'll just publish a book with my own opinions on life, the universe and everything, then everyone can give me money and pray to me!

Fuck you Hubbard, your sci fi isn't even good...and your pseudo-religion is worse...

Well, you know, religion can be a tricky thing...it takes time, effort, belief and a willingness to live your life a certain way...scientology more or less allows you to PRETEND you're a religious person, and at the end of the day, it allows you every door out of self-doubt, guilt and common sense wide open, all you have to do is step through and consider yourself "absolved" of anything else.

That being the case - I can understand why so many fucking fools fall into that bullshit. It's the perfect scam for self-indulgant, richer-than-God egomaniacal celebrities, truth be told.

He is...as is ANYONE with common sense and a desire to live life on their own terms....

Religion and psudeo-religions (like the CoS) offer a way for people to absolve themselves of responsibility for their actions. They are designed to induct "bodies", so as to improve the cash flow, and to enslave the unwitting, all in the name of "tech".

The exact same thing was done hundreds of years ago by the Roman Cahtolic Church.

"Heretics will be excommunicated!!!"

Or, in the case of the CoS:

"Suppressive persons will be cast out!!!"

Sure there are many Scientologists serving time in a Federal Penitentiary for breaking into government offices, stealing stuff, and a variety of other crimes, but they can ignore the legality of it by claiming "It was the right thing to do according to what I have been taught by the CoS".

Technically, the CoS views L. Ron Hoover as the ultimate role model.

Therefore, anyone who is a member of that org should become a paranoid-schizophrenic, alcholic, drug-abusing, wife-beater who thinks nothing of performing illegal activities in the service of the "mother Church".

Anyone who does not follow in L. Ron Hoover's footsteps is "out-ethics" and needs to donate even more money to the CoS so they can have their time-line cleared of all those incidents that caused them to become law-abiding citizens....or as the CoS puts it..."insane people".

Anyone that turns out to be a criminal is not allowed to be a Scientologist, simple as that. On another note, you remember when all the recent trouble started with the Catholic church? If the Pope had just cleaned house and not tried to just keep them in because of a shortage they would have instantly gotten more respect from at least a majority of people. But he didn't and it was a shortsighted decision.

Or maybe the Catholic Church would have gone after journalists by hounding them with private eyes and frivolous lawsuits.
