I just finished watching Hide and Seek. . .what happed to DeNiro? It's like he doesn't act anymore. He's so bland and uninspiring. His roles don't challenge him at all. What happened to the man who brought Travis Bickle, Jake LaMotta, Al Capone, and a young Vito Corleone to the screen? He used to EXPLODE off the screen. What/when was his last really good performance?

This was a grate movie...I don't think I've ever seen a better Lucifer on the screen, ever...exactly how I imagine Satan would look/act etc.

Casino was really good, too...probably DeNiro's last great film.

DeNiro got old, he ain't no "Tough Guy" anymore.
Actually he is just at that age where really good roles are behind him.
He may hit a golden role here and there, but his box office smash days are over.

Put him in a mob movie, and he's home.

I saw Hide and Seek a few days ago, it sucked.

Meet the Parents !! Fookin Grate !!

Meet the Parents was grate, but Meet the Fockers was lame

Cathedral is right, and he's not picking good roles. He does need to get a good Mob role. I think they should make a Godfather IV that takes place between the early parts of II and part I, bring back DeNiro as Vito. It could be awesome, and make up for how bad Godfather III was.

Honestly, I didn't like either Meet the Parents or Meet the Fuckers. I thought they were both pretty stupid...that may have a lot to do with Ben Stiller, though...only thing I've ever liked him in was Something About Mary...

Think DeNiro just plain stopped trying about 10 years ago. He was ok in Casino..........he was good in Heat. What was the last thing he was in....oh yeah, that American Express commercial, where he's walking around with his tongue tucked below his lower lip..........yeah, he was real good in that.........

Guess he doesn't bother trying anymore because he really doesn't have to.

You guys forgot Jimmy Conway..... Its true he hasn't had any GREAT roles for a while now but I liked Copland. Watching him poke fun at himself in Analyze This is priceless! Especially the "Freud Says" scene. I laugh so hard I forget to breathe.....

I wish I could find the footage of SNL where him and Joe Pesci show up mid skit while they are being lampooned. I forget who it was but I believe they were doing a skit where one of them had a talkshow and they were "overacting" the mob tough guy characters that they've played over the years. They throw a beat down on one of the guests with a baseball bat. Anyways, the story goes they were both in New York hangin out and found out about the skit. They were not guests on the show. When they found out they spontaneously show up and watch the show just off stage. When the camera man pans over they step out on stage. The skit it still going cause they don't realize it yet. The audience goes fucking nuts. They walk and start chastizing them for overacting the characters they've played. Being Ad Libbed it is hysterical but its the way Pesci and Deniro joined the skit by playing the very same characters these guys are poking fun at that kills me. In the end they snatch the bat and started beating the hell outta the cast. If I wanted abs of steel I'd watch this skit non stop for the next six months. If anyone else has seen this or knows where to get the footage let me know please.

Hahaha, that sounds awesome. . .I'm on it, I'll let you know as soon as I get it.

Is there anyone who DIDN'T figure out the ending to Hide and Seek by about 20 minutes in?

I'm a big Harrison Ford fan, and like DeNiro, he's done. I have a feeling the next Indiana Jones is gonna be a fucking train wreck.............oh, and the kindler, gentler DeNiro SUCKS!

Forgot that one, De Niro was one bad mother fucker there.

"Hide and Seek", is Dakota Fanning in that one? I'm so fucking sick of that little brat, she's every-fucking-where. They're making out like she's some prodgidous talent, she's just another child actor to me, and an over-exposed one at that.

Man, Pesci...wish he'd make a comeback.

Yeah, I really don't see the big deal with Dakota Fanning, either.

What about "ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA"? An incredible film IMO.

I also loved "COPLAND" partially just cause I always get a kick out of seeing DeNiro and Keitel back together on screen.

There's also one that I really love called "JACKNIFE" which unfortunately is not out on DVD but DeNiro is really great in.

I heard a rumor that Kevin Costner plays Harrison Ford's brother in the new Indiana Jones movie. . .that can't be anything but horribly bad.

i watched goodfellas yesterday. great film. DeNiro was brilliant as Jimmy Conway. He's always in the zone in his gangster movies. Gangster movies are like home to him.

Maybe there is a time, in the life of an actor, when he just wants to put on his slippers and enjoy the lightness of being...
Let's call it retirement?

Meryl Streep said one day that she just wanted to "have fun" doing light movies after a great career of serious roles.

Sadly DeNiros happy to appear in any old crap nowadays, for example the pile of toss "The Adventures Of Rocky And Bullwinkle" One of the worst films I've ever had the misfortune to endure.

Never mind he has appeared in some of my all time favourites: The Godfather 2, Midnight Run, Casino, The King Of Comedy, Goodfella's etc :)

I just watch Taxi Driver last night for the first time in years.

Man, he's amazing in it.

He's the Eddie Van Halen of film...well, talent-wise anyway. I doubt he's as much of a miserable, bitter old prick.
