Am just plain tired of Stairway To Heaven. Think it took more effort to compose that vs. Highway To Hell..........I dunno. AC/DC were just a great, straight-up rock band. Zeppelin, for me, had a bit more talent than Young and Co.

Think both of those tracks are way overplayed, and neither are my fave cuts from those bands.

If I had a choice of listening to one or the other, would probably go with Highway.

Hmmm, tough choice. It's funny how these 2 bands always duke it out.

Why such a tough choice? I'll explain. These 2 songs are totally different in time length. Stairway has a great acoustic guitar intro which is great for those learning to play. Starts off slow for the first half then
rocks out later on. Highway to hell is pure rockin' joy and it's the last great album with the late Bon Scott. I'll take Stairway because it's a masterpiece and I own an OLD record from England.

Heck! If you want a good comparison? Here is one for the records!

Both bands derive from the Blues, but Pagey plays it better. I'm not saying AC/DC are bad, each to their own. But, i just reckon that Zeppelin had more than them and their legacy has stood the test of time and will continue too, when AC/DC are still trying to forge a similar legacy. They're legendary, yes, but only through being around so long so new kids can hear about them. Led Zeppelin have no need to. The music is so good that you're bound to hear it one way or another.

6)- Page can play better than Angus or Malcom Young and did not need a second guitarist to replicate his studio work live, even though a lot of the songs had up to 6 guitar overdubs.
5) - You'll never be asked to play "you shook me all night long" or "back in black" for a music exam.
4) Put any of the geat Zep riffs against the famous AC/DC ones. "T.N.T." Is "Misty Montain Hop" played backwards for a start. And "Back in Black" can hardly measure to the greatness of some of the less memorable Zep songs.
3) - Zeppelin went for 10 years before Bonzo died, in that time they have cemented their status as the best Rock band ever by continually topping countless Rock polls. AC/DC are still going and only Angus Young is ever mentioned.
2) - Disc 2 of "Led Zeppelin DVD" is watched religiously by Zep fans and music lovers alike, and yet even AC/DC fans admit they've not watched disc 2 of "Family Jewels"
1) - When Bonzo died, Zep called it quits, they did not try to replace him with a less adequate replacement.

Both bands derive from the Blues, but Pagey plays it better. I'm not saying AC/DC are bad, each to their own. But, i just reckon that Zeppelin had more than them and their legacy has stood the test of time and will continue too, when AC/DC are still trying to forge a similar legacy. They're legendary, yes, but only through being around so long so new kids can hear about them. Led Zeppelin have no need to. The music is so good that you're bound to hear it one way or another.

I just always thought Led Zep were overrated, I mean, a lot of their riffs were ripped off from others, they haven't sold as many albums as people think, they were very hit and miss live and one of the reasons they have only reunited for one event is because they can't play with another drummer.

Whereas, AC/DC's riffs are all original (albeit, sounding the same), they have sold more albums than people think, have always been a consistently good live band and continued to play with a new singer after the original singer died, and actually became more successful afterwards.

BTW, AC/DCs bass player on their first album was Mark Evans, after that, and to this day, Cliff Williams has taken the post. Their original/current drummer is Phil Rudd, but he was absent from the band for a number of years, when he was replaced by Chris Slade for 1990s "The Razor's Edge" and by Simon Wright for 1983s "Flick of the Swith, 1985s "Fly On The Wall", 1986s "Who Made Who" and 1987s "Blow Up Your Video". And, for the record, Plant is REALLY struggling live these days, so number 8 doesn't count.

Hit or miss you might have been lucky and got a great show. With AC/DC you were assured the EXACT SAME FUCKING SHOW!!!

AC/DC have not sold as many albums as you make out. and have twice as many as Zeppelin. Plant's voice is not stuggling, and even at his worst he sounded better than Brian Johnston, who has easily the most irritating voice in rock. Zep had a few liberated riffs, but had many kickass originals that changed so much over the 10 years they were going.

I've never heard of ANY of the members of AC/DC you pointed out.

I was critisising AC/DC's ability in reference to the Zep argument. You umentioned the white stripes in a last ditch effort to make yourself look better. Jack White is an Extremely talented musician, and please present proof other than "no he's shit" if you try and prove otherwise. A man who brought Slide Guitar back to the modern age is a genius in my book. I know Meg White isn't good. I hear that every day, but she plays the same beats as an AC/DC song.
