I heard it over half a week ago. It is quite retro.

Very Some Girls album vibe...

...if this is any sign, then the new album will be a true return to form.

I like Keefs guitar sound on this song. :D

That's not Keith. It's Waddy Watchel.

There is like 2 rhythm parts...and at least the one I'm talking about is Keith.

It's the loud chords...droppin in....over what I'm thinking is the Waddy part.

Just downloaded it off Limewire and this is the best thing I've heard the Stones do since Some Girls/Tattoo You era. Forget Saint of Me, Mixed Emotions, and Love is Strong. This is the fuckin' Stones wailing here. I can't wait until Sept for the album now!

Just listened to the new ballad, Streets of Love. It's not too bad either, has a pretty cool riff playing in the background. It's no Angie, but it definitely has that classic sound too.

I hope Charlie continues to play in the studio with them even though this is most likely his last tour.

Keith is not on the track. He's not even in the band anymore. He was fired last May.

Yeah, I just heard that one too. Pretty good as ballads go. Nice acoustic work (from what I can tell from a shitty low bit rate Mp3) Good production on the vocals. Mick drags out the whisper and the falsetto that have worked well on Stones ballads of the past.

That's not Mick on the track. He's not even in the band anymore. Ronnie kicked him out this past June.

OK, well I guess Kid Rock and Justin Timberlake turned in a convincing performance then.

My God The Stones still got it They've been around forever and that song is more hard rockin' than about 95% percent of the crap that passes for Rock Nowadays. I wish Ed would pay attention to the Stones and Aerosmith, Mick and Keith hate each other guts, yet they still tour together and release CD's, and DVD's and still sell out stadiums, unlike some other band.

I still think Vertigo was a great single. They just overdid it with the I-Pod commercial and too much airplay. Stones actually have the advantage there because the top 40 stations probably won't play their single, and their tour sponsor commercials are playing the old hits.

Seriously though, as everyone else here seems to agree, this is probably the best advance single the Stones have put out since "Start Me Up" and it's looking good for their album.

They were only in the band for a month or so, but it turns out Chuck Leavell didn't think they fit.

That's Linda Ronstadt on guitar and Duke Cunningham on vocals.

They have no original members left. We have only been seeing animatronic robots for the past 15 years. Keef, Mick, Ronnie & Charlie were killed in a freak gardening accident back in the 80s...

KZOK is reporting that they will have the album by the end of the week. What's the street date on this thing anyway? Seems like late August/early September is standard operating procedure for the Stones anymore.

Well thats great news, to me they never seemed to really gel again
after Mick and Keef had their big split. Sounds like it might have
finally happened. Cant wait to hear it !

They play something other than Fatboy Slim's "Urban Remix" of obscure Daft Punk and Franz Ferdinand songs in San Francisco gyms?

Who knew?

Speaking of which....

Did you happen to catch Dave "I'm a Tool" Navarro call into the Bob Rivers show last week plugging ROCKSTAR INXS????

He hung up all indignant when Bob made a "hide the belt" joke:rolleyes:

Fucking asshole Navarro:mad:

I just missed it by a couple seconds, I guess. Apparently Bob & Spike were pretty pissed about it.

So far, I've heard nothing but positive feedback towards this tune, even (and especially) from people who have not liked the Stones since Tattoo.

And considering how bad the four new tunes on "40 Licks" were, this is really saying something!

Yeah, those did nothing to wet my appetite for a whole new cd, but all the buzz about this one seem to be true!

Charlie wants to go out with a bang.

I just heard the new one, Back of my Hand. It made my hair on my arm stand on end by halfway through it . It's a slow grinding blues song complete with Mick breaking out his harmonica. It sounds more like something left off Sticky Fingers and Exile than Rough Justice does.

They did it right this time. These new songs are blowing me away.

Uh-oh. 16 songs in Stones land genrally means overkill.

10 to 12 songs per album works best for them. 45 minutes, no more.

I know it's the nature of the beast in the CD age to load it up, but I prefer when a new album goes for maximum impact rather than misinterpreting quanityt for value for the dollar.

After all, look at the 6 pack...

IS THERE A VIDEO FOR " ROUGH JUSTICE " .HAVENT SEEN ANYTHING YET .I KNOW ,MTV WONT PLAY IT ,BUT VH1 WOULD ?

Warham

Albums are far to lengthy nowadays. Albums used to be 25-30 minutes tops back in the 60's. They hit for maximum impact by being so concise, as AP has already brilliantly mentioned.

diamondD
08-18-2005, 06:11 PM
Yep, always too much room for filler, which dilutes the over-all impact. Classic VH would only be 3 cds if the 6 pack were released in today's enviroment.

On the other hand though, this is the first real Stones album in 8 years. They have been known to record a lot of shit at any given time. Most of the songs from Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile on Main Street were all written at the same time. Some Girls could have been a triple album easily, and even after Emotional Rescue and Tattoo You, there was still enough left from those sessions to make another decent album.

So after this much time without a proper album, and quite possibly being their last studio record together, maybe they just decided to go for it. With the songs I've heard from the album being as good as they are, I'd find it hard to believe anything's really gonna SUCK on this album
