Have you paid any attention to their QB's?...and their receivers for that matter?

Jason Witten is a stud...that I'll agree with...

Not to mention the fact that Bledsoe hasn't really been good in 5 or 6 years...

There aren't many QB's who have their best years at 33...

he's 33 by the way...

and honestly...one year in the NFL does make a difference.

I'm not saying Bledsoe couldn't find his magic for one more year...but it's not exactly going to be easy after coming off of 2 seasons of less than 3,000 yards passing...

the redskins have a better shot than going farther than dallas...

in all honesty, i think though that in the NFC, its philly (even though hopefully someone breaks McNabbs neck) atlanta, carolina, and then the pack in that order...

from a non biased point of view, the cowgirls and the skins are both in the middle of the pack, with washington having the edge with a better defense and a better rb...

i'd love to see a washington-cowgirls game that actually had playoff implications for once...

but it'd be a snowballs chance in hell that the cowboys (or the skins for that matter) make it to the superbowl...

If Bledsoe was in his prime, Losman would be sitting another season.

The defense is young and will be in it's first season in the 3-4.

Super Bowl ... nope.

Division title ... nope.

Playoffs ... would take A LOT, and doubtful.

Improved ... yep.

They won't over take the Eagles in the East. If they would garner a wildcard spot, I would be very surprised.

Bledsoe needs time. Larry Allen is aging and they signed a somewhat injured Marco Rivera, the line may run block better than pass block.

Witten is a stud, no argument. Jones has to prove he can do it for 16 games, and I like him.

The defense is flooded with young guys and players that haven't experience in the 3-4, including DC Mike Zimmer.

Keyshawn is coming off leg injuries last season, Glenn has had how many injury free seasons in his career.

A wildcard spot ... big maybe.

POJO_Risin
08-07-2005, 04:35 PM
The Eagles are solid on paper...

and I don't argue with any of the points that you are making...

but...

3 years ago...you could say nearly the same thing...that you are saying now...and they found a way...

Parcells knows how to get something out of his players...

I hate the Cowboys...Hate Parcells...and hope they suck...

but...that being said...

I don't see Philly running away and hiding this year...

not often to you go championship, championship, championship, Super Bowl...and be able to keep up the intensity...

they can be had...if only because of complacency...

ALinChainz
08-07-2005, 04:40 PM
They haven't won the SB yet ... I think that and Andy Reid will keep them from complacency.

The Pats seem to keep it up, other than the one season clunker in their run.

Hell, I like the Lions in our division better than the Cowboys in there.

And no, I haven't been drinking today. :)

Keeping a team from complacency is one thing...

Un-fucking-believable. I just watched Dallas go into the 4th quarter with a 13-0 lead, only to give up two touchdowns and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I'm both in shock and pissed off at the same time. That's what happens when you play great defense for 3 quarters then take a nap in the 4th like the game is in the bag.

Little Texan
09-20-2005, 12:41 AM
I don't know why I'm so surprised, though. I've watched Dallas do this a countless number of times over the years...have a lead and squander it in the 4th quarter. You'd think they'd learn that the game is played for 4 quarters, and not 3.

as a skins fan, i'm definitely excited over that win.

but...3 2/3 quarters of shit followed by 2 good passes? our offense still sucks. badly.

i can never root for dallas. but in the 4th quarter, i was almost wishing for brunell to throw a couple more picks so we could just end this and move on to jason campbell. he's the future, anyways.

but brunell had 2 good throws left in him. is he the quarterback to take us to 9-7 and squeak into the playoffs? maybe. the skins have a cakewalk schedule. but good luck on a playoff win with that offense.

i'd rather head back to rebuilding with campbell. if brunell's not the future (and he's not) then we're just wasting time.

all last night proved was that the cowboys still have a little bit of work to go in their own rebuilding. (and that missing easy, early field goals can be costly...:D)

while it was a great win for us (a fucking phenominal one at that), we still need to figure out how to get that kind of production out of the offense for sixty minutes, not just 3+ minutes. once we figure out how to do that and actually get a running game going, we're going to be turning some heads...

great to see the skins finally in again in dallas and see gibbs beat parcells (i think that ups his record to 7-15 or something like that against parcells)...

anyone else notice in the post game interview that the media paused for 15 seconds or so before asking parcells anything? i couldn't stop laughing...

VHdamaco
11-09-2005, 03:10 PM
that remains to be seen...

with the redskins passing game finally opened up (the first game wasn't a fluke, but a preview of things to come) the game should be much more exciting overall instead of just the 4th quarter...

also, the resolve of the team was shown last week against philly, it takes a damn good team to bounce back from a game in where they got shithoused by the giants 36-0 (i don't think that'll be even close to the score the next time around, the giants were on a mission to win the game for mara and it showed; if anything they'll be overconfident the next time they play the skins). WHile it wasn't necessarily pretty, it was a balanced and well earned w against the eagles (with or without TO, the eagles are still a good team)...

that will set the tone for the second half of the season...

there will be two teams from the nfc east the go to the playoffs and the skins will be one of them...

T.O.'s back to his same ol' shit with Dallas...not that I'm surprised. To me, signing T.O. is kinda like selling your soul to the devil...you might get what you wanted at first, but you're going to pay dearly for it in the end. I knew T.O. wasn't going to change. If Dallas makes it to the Super Bowl this year, they should learn from Philly and cut him after the game.

'Boys 2nd, 3rd team receivers are getting alot of snaps in preseason, which I think will help in the long run. I really don't care if TO even plays in the preseason, as long as he gets snaps in camp before the first game. This gives the media something to talk about I guess.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I think they made the right move. I think they would have lost the game with Bledsoe at QB, anyway, the way he was getting sacked left and right (partially the line's fault, but also Bledsoe's for being a statue back there), and throwing yet another interception when they were in scoring position. Although Romo threw three interceptions, I think he was moving the offense a helluva lot better than Bledsoe did, and he threw two pretty good td passes, and was evading the pass rush better than Bledsoe, although he was sacked a few times, also. I think there is much more of an upside with Romo, while Bledsoe is well past his prime and should have retired while he was in Buffalo. He's become too much of a liability for the Cowboys...he throws too many interceptions at the worst possible moments...the guy just sucks, period! You can't throw a rookie QB in there at the half and expect him to play like a 10 year veteran and work miracles, but he didn't do any worse than Bledsoe would have. If he takes all the practice snaps this week to prepare for next week's game, and a gameplan is designed around him at QB, I guarantee Romo will play ALOT better than he did last night.

Romo isn't a rookie.

I don't know, I don't think Romo will throw any less ints. than Bledsoe would have. Maybe he'll throw more, he's got some learning to do. Maybe it'll workout better for the Boys in the long run, we'll see I guess.

Romo's been around too long to be considered a rookie no matter how few passes he's thrown.

Point is, for all the Bledsoe haters out there, this team has other problems. Defense has several letdowns in each game, mainly pass defense, blown coverages. They're relying on Williams too much back there. Lapses in the kicking game, pass blocking, drops by T.O. as well as the whole T. O. thing.

Having said that, Bledsoe has made some awful choices at times, I'll admit. I guess Parcells had had just enough.

There are other problems to correct besides the QB position if this team is going to make it to the playoffs.

Actually my deal was there was more problems than just Bledsoe. Obviously I didn't know Romo would go off like this. If the defense can just not give up any big plays now, things may work out OK.

Romo, statisticly the best quarterback in the NFL. The Cowboys as a team, have the most balanced team in the NFL.

As much as I'd like to, I wouldn't crown the Cowboys Super Bowl Champions just yet. As you've seen already this season, things can change very quickly in the NFL. Just five or so weeks ago, when the Cowboys last played the Giants, the Giants humiliated the Cowboys at home on Monday Night, and were being touted as Super Bowl contenders, and the Cowboys were seen as a team in a downward spiral. Flash ahead several weeks to the present, and things are the exact opposite! Plenty more examples out there, but that just goes to show that the NFL is highly unpredictable and things can change in an instant. I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic about the Cowboys chances for now, and wait to see how they do in the next couple of games against a dangerous Giants team on the road and the Saints before I even start mentioning Super Bowl chances.

The Cowboys were disected by not only Drew Brees but by Sean Payton. That was a big win for the Saints. The Cowboys are still in 1st place though, with a favorable remaining schedule. Romo certainly is not a football god yet, but for now it seems that the Boys have found a legit starting Qb.

He wants to act like a big boy , but then runs to the press like a little girl when T.O. spits in his face. I certainly don't agree with T.O. and would have never done that when I played, but I would have definately never told anyone outside of the players on my team that someone spit on me, or grabbed my nuts at the bottom of the pile, or threw dirt in my eyes or talked about killing my family. That shit stays on the field. But then again a piece of shit like Hall wouldn't understand that.

Tell me about it! What an uninspired, lackluster, pathetic "performance" by the Cowboys today! You would think that playing at home on Christmas Day against division rival Philly for the DIVISION TITLE would have this team fired up, but they couldn't have played more uninspired than they did today! Their defense failed to show up, again...what's up with Dallas's defense the past few games? I say if they do make it to the playoffs, if they haven't already, they don't deserve to be there the way they have played in recent weeks. Not this year...they are still a few pieces and a year or two away from being Super Bowl contenders.

First off, I'd like to tell the haters in this thread to fuck off and start your own Eagles thread or whatever if you want to trash the Cowboys...this thread is for FANS. Ok, now with that said, what is your (fans, not smartass haters) opinion on how to fix this team? Here is my assessment... First off, get rid of T.O. He's nothing but a grossly overpaid, overrated attention whore that is nothing more than a constant distraction and sideshow. Ditch him. Second, get rid of Parcells and hire some new blood that can motivate this team. Find a fiery coach that can not only get the team pumped up to play, but prepared to play as well. Let the new coach bring in his own staff. Also, do something with that godawful offensive line, not to mention the
secondary...I've never seen as many easy, gimme touchdowns in my life as what I've seen Dallas's secondary give up in the past month! Pathetic. After getting rid of T.O., replace him with a decent receiver that can actually CATCH A PASS that is thrown to him. Dallas has some talent on their team, and they're not that far away from being contenders if they just make a few changes. They have a good quarterback that if provided with a decent offensive line, has a chance to be a great one. They have good running backs, some good receivers minus T.O., and their defense is fairly solid other than the secondary. Roy Williams is good, but Terrence Newman and the rest of the corners and safeties have got to go. With some changes here and there, Dallas could compete for a Super Bowl within a year or two. Oh yeah, I might add, in the future they might want to consider letting someone else hold on field goals and extra points besides the starting qb...that might help, too.

Lqskdiver

I imagine all of Seattle is! Even if he hadn't fumbled that snap, there's no guarantee that the Seahawks wouldn't have just marched right down the field and kicked a field goal, anyway, especially with how weak Dallas's secondary is. That's the way I look at it.

At some point in time, Parcells has to take some blame. TO may have been Jones' doing but the defense is all Parcells. He's picked those guys over the last few years, they're his personnel. I don't know if he needs to move on but he's got to take the blame for the defense this year.

I haven't missed a single game in 15 years, and I have seen plenty of people over the last ten sporting Cowboys gear. I wouldn't call the last ten years anything to talk about. For proof, look no further than sales of merchandise throughout the NFL. Dallas merchandise puts a lot of money in other teams pockets. Even when they are not winning.

Outside of Greg Ellis, which was pretty big, I don't think there were really were too many injuries this year, just bad play, especially the secondary.
