Gammons said that the raging rumor right now in baseball circles is that there is a player much higher in prestige than Rafeal Palmeiro (he of 3,000 hits and 550 dingers) currently going through the appeals process for a steroid test positive...

Gammons didn't know the name of the player, or wouldn't say who he thought...but he said there were only 6 or 7 players that he could think of that he would rank ahead of Palmeiro in prestige of "getting caught..."

I wonder who it could be...

In the same segment...the were talking about Sheffield and his feud with Bonds....and how recently Sheff has come off that horse...

I don't know if that's a connection or not...

have you noticed...not many people ever really talk about Sheff's career stats?

For example...how many total HR's does he have?...and try and answer without looking it up...
