I like everything they've done (except Hot Space), but I do prefer the 70s stuff.

I love Under Pressure, its my Favoite Queen Tune, Its just one of the pure songs out there. I'm pretty Pissed that that the one emo band covered it, How Dare They, Under Pessure is one of those songs that should never be covered unless you are damn good, and The emo band that did sucked ass at it.

I haven't even heard that cover. But I'll bet it couldn't be as bad as......

I personally don't think you can beat the era of Eleanor of Aquitaine, the wife of Henry II, father of Richard I.

Marvellous.

well aren't we smart!!!

hahahahah

I prefer the Golden Years as well, though Queen II is a very underrated masterpiece.

Queen II
Sheer Heart Attack
A Night At The Oprea
News Of The World

Kind of Magic had some grate tracks as well, but it was way overproduced...One Vision f.e., a grate rock track when played live...one of their best

Unquestionably '74-'77.

Incredibly productive, creative, and it still holds up in almost every way.

Well I voted for 78-81.

"Live killers"!

"The Game" and "Flash"!

"Flash" (the song) is undoubtably their greatest work.

I don`t know if "The biggest band in the world" is accurate, though.

All Led Zeppelin`s albums appeared in Billboards Hot 100 in `79 and Pink Floyd released "The Wall".

I think they were miles in front of Queen, especially in the US.

They never went on a Crusade though.

Yes, but Queen had huge singles success as well as huge album success, so they were heard by more audiences.

Anyway, it doesn't matter, does it?

Well, no.

But it`s ironic that they had their biggest US succes with "The Game" then Freddie grew that big gay moustache which was one of the reasons for their decline afterwards over there.

The American audiences hated it.

They wanted a rock god like Robert Plant.

If he didn`t cultivate that over-the-top poofta image (short hair, bushy `tache, biker leathers) they would have went from strength to strength over there.

Even Rob Halford was smart enough not to grow a "cockduster".

That is EXACTLY the reason.

Roger Taylor himself thinks that is at least PART of it. That, and the shitness of HOT SPACE.

You're all avoiding the main issue, only Eleanor of Aquitaine went on the second crusade.

good question...I was driving in a mercedes convertable this weekend and they played a live songs-special on the radio...some mainstream shit and suddenly they played "radio gaga" live...we turned the volume up and did the clapping "through" the roof...is it a one of queen's best songs? no way...but much better than most of the other shit...

sure the "old stuff" is great but I also love the innuendo cd and miracle...great albums!

All I can say is that Queen's first album was the best damn glam rock album ever made. And the second album is a good example of what a prog album should sound like without all those bloody fuckin synthesisers.

I'll go with 1973-1974: QUEEN I, QUEEN II and for an honorable mention QUEEN AT THE BBC

Agreed that after the Game Queen's output was a bit dodgy, at best, although there were a couple of tracks with every post-1980 album (up through Innuendo) that were worthy of their 1970s output.

I would say their second phase, as that's when they reached their apex. Bulletproof voice, guitar like layer cake and harmonies for days!

I believe the breakdown needs to be tweaked a bit, at least for U.S. fans. The group were at their zenith here during the period of 1974-1978, which is my favorite era of the band. They pretty much fell off the map after that, until "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Another One Bites The Dust" brought them back briefly in 1980. But by the end of that year they were gone again, only to return (sort of) with The Works in early 1984. Sadly, U.S. radio rarely touched them after "Under Pressure" in 1981, so there is a great percentage of their music that remains unheard by American audiences to this day.

1973-1974: The Early Years
Queen
Queen II
Sheer Heart Attack

1974-1978: The Golden Years
A Night At The Opera
A Day At The Races
News Of The World
Jazz

1979-1980: The Biggest Band In The World
Live Killers
The Game

1980-1985: The Troubled Years
Flash Gordon Soundtrack
Hot Space
The Works

1986: A Year With New Energy
A Kind of Magic

1989-1995: Freddie Dying (or dead) Years
The Miracle
Innuendo
Made In Heaven

Never got into Queen they were a bit too theatrical for me although Freddy did pen some great tunes such as 'Somebody To Love', 'You're My Best Friend', even 'Get Down, Make Love' but when I heard 'Radio Ga Ga' it makes you wonder what in the hell happened to them.

1973-1979 are the best years. Their final release (while Freddie was still alive) Innuendo was a great album. Had they been able to tour that album in North America, it would've put them back on the map over hear once again...

That era where Brian May's tone didn't suck shit...oh wait... ;)

Nah, everything up to the Flash Gordon soundtrack. The Miracle remains a favorite of mine, simply due to the fact that it was the first album I'd heard by Queen in entirety since the Flash Gordon soundtrack and it was REALLY popular at the time in my circle of friends...'89 I guess?

It ain't the hair or the leather that makes a man a poofta.
It's his "vagina allergy" which makes him one...

Look at Deacon's colorful shorts...they're more pooftah than Freddie in leather and whips!

Lately I've been listening to SHEER HEART ATTACK and LIVE MAGIC the most...amazing albums...plus of course, songs like "Death On Two Legs"...

Btw, here's the best performance of the Tribute Show...
