I saw these fuckers on one of those New Year's Eve countdown shows.
Now...
Who sits around the production table and says...
"Listen, we need to book Hall and Oates for the NYE show... and we need them to play 'ManEater'... Don't take No for a fucking answer".

Did anyone else think that John Oates was also Bababoey from the Stern show?

Hall and Oates...the original Ambiguously Gay Duo.

Sensible Shoes
01-01-2010, 10:49 AM
That video is a scream. I don't know which guy is which, but the dark haired one - his entire contribution seems to be pointing in the camera and saying "SAY". Then they toss him in playing a single chord on the guitar here and there. If this is a duo - had to work really hard to keep the short, dark haired guy a part of it. Hmmm. Can you say "bitch"?

Although Daryl Hall got pretty much all of the recognition being the lead singer (he obviously had the better voice), I think John Oates was simply the right songwriting partner. He was most likely the music writer/director and Hall probably looked after the lyric & melody end of things.

Were they gay? Highly unlikely...

Although their music is borderline, it's quite simply 80's Pop with an underlying current of Soul.

If they are not, their marketing manager must have been gay with an agenda then.

That is like calling Donna Summer a "rock" artist.

From Hall's appearance on the Stern show back in '07...

Daryl said that they had a reporter from Rolling Stone try to out them as being gay one time but they weren't gay. He also said that he and John have had sex in the same room at the same time but not with each other. Robin asked if they ever did the same woman. He said that they may have but he really doesn't remember.

Then again...a Indiana Jone-style video where young, brazen nearly naked men engaging in what appears to be some sort of fucked-up ritual virgin sacrifice could be looked upon as being both misogynistic and gay. And is it just me or does John Oates come across like a stereotypical 70's porn star in this vid?
