DM hospitalized - GA injured

GRATE.

I woke up this morning, about 6 AM.
I had a terrible pain in my back and I had bitten my tongue so it bleeded on the pillow...

I've had some kind of a epilepsy attack when I was sleeping, I didn't woke up to that one, and likely the cramps caused the back muscles to go totally locked up.

It took me an hour to take a shower and get dressed. At the hospital they sticked a total of four strong needles on my bum...well, that didn't really make a difference. Then they bring some smelly, drunken guy into the same room, he had passed out on the street...at one point the guy starts shouting that he wants a smoke...I had to get up that bed, with my back in pain, to tell him that he is not going to fuckin' smoke in a hospital room...

Well, I spend about six hours in the hospital...then I got a week of sick leave and a prescription to some strong pills...

Now I already feel a lot better...thanks to the pills, I can actually sit on a chair and moove around a little bit, before the pills I was like a fuckin' 100-year old...ha ha ha.

Next week I have to go to some more examinations...it, this kind of attack, has happened to me 2-3 times before, but now I really have to find out about this one, they're gonna do some magnetic scans on my brains in case they'd find something there...ah ha ha. It's not as serious as it sounds but it would be good to get the medication in case I have some kind of epilepsy.

I'm glad I know some nice grrrls in town...one of them already brought food for the injured DM...I had also promised to go clubbing to Helsinki with two local grrrls...I had waited for that trip the whole week but I guess I won't be dancing too much now...uhuhuhuh.

SO now it's time to wish me good luck and tell me who's going to take care of MY PANZER and all the other DM duties when I'm not able to be so much around...

I had something similar happen to me about a dozen times from about 1981-1989...

In my case, it was due to exhaustion. Usually it was when I was working insane hours, not keeping a regular schedule, not eating right, or when I had been sick with the flu bug and my system was severly weakened.

After the first one I had a CAT scan and a bunch of tests, and for several years I was on Dilantin (anti-seizure medicine for epileptics).

Thing is, after all the test results came back, they said I did NOT have epilepsy, and had no idea what caused my seizures.

I knew what it was...as I described above.

One incident was when I was on the road in 1984 in Ft. Worth Texas. My band and I were staying at a motel, and I had just woken up one morning. Next thing I knew, I looked up and there was an EMT there.

Seems I was laying on the bed, and went into convulsions.

In my opinion it was due to the heavy slave load and erratic schedule of life on the road.
Constant one nighters, get to the club, set up, play the gig, tear down, drive 12 hours to the next gig and try to get an hour or two of sleep while sitting up in the truck cab, then loading in, playing the gig, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Add to that the fact that I was only getting about 65 bucks a week to live on, and the fact that even though I am 6'-7" I was down to 165 pounds because I was starving.

Within a week after having my seizure in Ft. Worth, I decided to quit the band and go back to my hometown.

Last seizure I had was in the fall of 1989, after I had the flu and was SERIOUSLY ill for about a week. Ever since I have made it a point to get plenty of sleep, eat right, etc.

At least you had one in your sleep. It is freaky shit when you are at a friend's house, and you blow their minds by falling over and going into convulsions. And all you know is that you were sitting there, and then the very next second you are waking up and going "WTF?".

I hope you have no further problems, GA, as it can turn out to be something serious.

Hey, I think it's likely something similar with me as well...the first one that I had was after maybe 14 hours of staring at the computer screen, drawing with AUTOCAD during my studies...the second time was something similar...

So I'm hopeful it's nothing but a combination of exhaustion and lack of sleep...

I know of people who when they get flu-like symptoms, or a cold, get erratic fluctuations that result in seizures.

I forget the specific name for it, but I will find out for you.

One minute they are fine and then a fever develops quickly and they seize (not epilepsy) but there is medication.

Just don't be a hero and brush this off. See it through to the end with however many specialists you need to see.

Man when I had my seizures they were full blown grand mal seizures, and every single muscle in my body hurt like a motherfucker....I walked like an old man for days after each incident....

The first ones I had some years ago...the only thing that caused pain afterwards that I had bit my tongue in pieces...this time I also have muscle pain, like you...mostly in my back and on my shoulders...the meds help, but it's still painful to move around...I got an appointment with the doctor of my area...yeah, for the 23rd of September...pisses me off to wait until there, and then wait more to get to some brain scans or something, I know I have to wait for them separately...but what can you do.

I wouldn't mind so much but I'm also looking for a new job now, and I may have to move out of this town...so it makes the arrangements even harder...well, gotta hope I won't be having more of these in the near future.
