Many of these people have lost everything and have nowhere to go. Here out west we still enjoy infastructure Roosevelts work corp built in the 1930's. Why not instigate such a program now?
People would have food to eat, a place to stay, and a job. Communities could bennefit from the work done for decades. Why not use these people to strengthen weak levys? Rebuild the community?
The federal welfare system has been a complete failure. I hate free handouts. They don't work. But giving people a job and some skills helps many dig out of the hole. We don't need to ship people in from other areas to rebuilt the southern coastal region, the people who lived there can do it in the Fedral Labor Corp. People will never respect a community unless their own sweat goes into building it. It gives people a sense of pride. Free welfare steals that from them.
