Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?

Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders.

The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues to request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city.

Remember, this is George W. Bush's fault.

What do you think he's saying over and over again in your avatar, War?

My best guess is "That's right. That's right. That's right." etc. :D

He's saying...'Look at Blanco...Look at Blanco..."

And NO Bush administration official knew of this ridiculous decision by Blanco? That's not exactly being on top of the situation. That said, Blanco needs to have her empty fucking head handed to her on a platter.

If BLANCO and NAGIN control the National GUARD, why are they refusing to follow the mayor's edict of forced evacuations?

I could be wrong, but I now think The Dept. of Homeland Security is now in control...
