After several days of watching Katrina coverage I see a lot of people demanding things from the government. Since I am obviously a victim for having just to witness this carnage here is a list of my demands....

A beach front house in Malibu, All my debt wiped clean forever,A sports car, A new top of the line computer,15 of the hottest supermodels of my choice,The biggest T.V. ever made with high speed cable and free porn,Two hundred watt marshall stack amplifiers,The guitar Jimi Hendrix played at woodstock.Eternal bliss, and an ORIGINAL VAN HALEN REUINON....Oh yeah and some water

I think people expect too much from the govt. The founding fathers wanted the majority of the government to be at the local level. The federal govt. was in charge of national security and providing a national currency.

In a disaster as huge as Katrina of course the federal govt. should step in and help but the responsibility still lies with the individual state and city govts.

I'm a big believer in getting the slums out of the people instead of the people out of the slums. As long as American families fall apart at the rate they are, the govt. can't do a damn thing for us. They can tax the shit out of the workers and distribute it to the less productive but I haven't seen this be benneficial at all. No, nobody will take pride in their own community unless they have sacrificed some of their own sweat to build and maintain that community.

I think on reason the Katrina disaster was so unfortunate is too many people were expecting the govt. to help them instead of being proactive and saving themselves. People like the guy who walked 82 miles on foot to Baton Rouge from New Orleans are the people who survive. The person waiting for the mayor to send buses is in deep shit.

Big govt. only takes in the end. You put your life in the hands of a bumbling beurocracy. I like having the responsibility on myself. For me, the govt. doesn't owe me much. I've never taken a cent of welfare or even unemployment money. I pay my own medical bills. I pay over $20K of federal income taxes a year.

What I expect from the govt. is good regulation on industries that become monopolistic. Capatalism is great but with no regulation, it becomes a monopolistic tyranny. One reason pharmacutical drugs and health care are so expensive in the United States is there is shitty regulation in that industry. It pisses me off that the govt. does nothing there. The govt. is also responsible to keep our currency solvent. Also, the govt. should keep our borders and ports safe while avoiding foriegn intanglements that our not in our best intrest. Of course the federal govt. has fucked up on all these. It pisses me off.

On other matters, let the states decide.
