There's no loyalty in business anymore. For as much as companies make you work nowadays and a layoff is always a posibility, work for yourself. That's what I did. Working for someone else is great if the job is steady, you like it, and there's great bennefits. If those don't exits, what's the point?

I'm heading towards the same boat in my job, but i was warned that my time was coming and it's all due to gas prices.
If it hits $3.00 a gallon and stays there i'll be out of a job in a matter of weeks, no shit.

That's why i'm starting classes in January to get my realestate license back, but then it's back to long hours kissing people's ass...the pay is most excellent though, more than double what i make now and i was considering going back to that long before all the bad economic news pointed at me anyway, lol.

I think we ALL are pretty well aware that the economy is in the shit pot right now, and it's probably not going to improve for at least another 5 years at a minimum...people everywhere are getting laid off left and right because the cost and logistics for a LOT of business, government or not, of doing business are getting to the point of being self defeating, and it's leaving a LOT of people wanting.

I don't want to stray too much into Frontline material in Non, but Bush's bullshit about a "recovering" economy should prove to be exactly that to anybody who's actually been paying attention by now. Cuts coming at almost evert single level are not at all surprising and not at all unexpected, either. Microsoft did for me...Jester's apparently out in the cold...and from the way things are going, Cat's gonna be looking pretty damn soon, too.

I'll be the first to say that Jester starts a lot of shit, but I will ALSO be the first to say that he also starts some serious threads - I remember one not too long ago where he had some serious interest in gardening and that was a fairly positive thread, for the most part....

I used to be in the aircraft biz....layoffs were a fact of life.

They can be a bitch, but they can come at an opportune time.

I was laid off by Boeing in 2000 after coming within a hair of being laid off in late 1999.

The severance package they gave me was enough that it paid for my move to Gnashville and a 3 month paid vacation before I started a new job in a new career field.

I am thankful to The Lazy B Ranch for making it all possible.

Jesterstar will find another job, but might not have as much internet access, and will not be able to 'own' us as much as he used to.

Certainly working in a WeinerMobile will allow him to meat more homos!
