It took everything in my power to keep from throwing up after reading this. Just when you think the all-caps is bad enough, you find out that the person has no clue what he's talking about.

He not only did the two mentioned by Sesh, but VH played I'll Wait on the 1984 tour. As fun as it is to just randomly list songs to sound trendy, it's even better to have some clue what you're saying.

This is a little pompous. When the author says DLR - most of us assume you mean DLR solo. If I am right about that, VH doing I'll wait in 1984 means absolutely jack shit to this discussion.

Dave sang his guts out on "I'll Wait" during the 84 tour. No way he could pull that off now.

Did he ever do "Coconut Grove" live? He could probably handle that no problem. I have heard him do "Sunburn" on Filthy Little Mouth tour which is in a very similiar style.

The DLR Band album never got the proper live exposure that such an album deserved, probably because the guitarists quit the band (one due to illness and the other due to greed) and no touring took place for an entire year afterwards. Only "Slam Dunk" was played live, and even then, only a handful of times on the 1999 tour.

Elvis is probably correct that something like "Relentless" would be downright ugly live, but there are a number of songs on that album where Dave wasn't pushing too hard with the vocals.... "Going Places", "Little Texas", "Black Sand" these are songs that would be kick ass additions to any live set.

Hell, I love the Van HALEN songs as much as anybody, but if I had to give up "Panama" for "Going Places" or "Jump" for "Black Sand" there wouldn't be a question. Absolutely......

You know what I wanna hear? Well and no, cos nobody probably gives a shit. lol.

Anyway, now that Dave's "settled" and "matured" or so it seems? lol. I'd dig for him to bust out that faux, diamond sequined 335 of his with a harp either in his pocket or around his neck and go into The Full Bug!!! Guitar into, harp solo and all. That would be the shit cos Dave's a talented musician whether anyone wishes to admit it. He plays the fucking blues. I don't give a flying fuck how talented one is on an instrument either, meaning technically, musically proficient or whatever. Dave has soul, heat and rhythm when he plays.

So yeah, Full Bug 'tis my first choice.

As Loons also said, I'd dig a treatment along wid a story to accompany it of Medicine Man. That would be cool.

I'm just going to say this and then shut up but think about what soul and ispiration Dave brought as opposed to just "another" singer? Again, that's what separates our appreciation and love of VAN HALEN in comparrisson to the fucking sheep (Oooooh, That's what Dreeeeeeeeams are made of.... Come on get happeeeeee.....) that troll these sites and worship a seventy five year old tequila salesman.

Only someone with the knowledge, soul and feel of the BLUES could add "Bop Badda Shoobee Doo Ahhh" to a rocker like "I'm The One" and "C'Mon, mon, mon, mon, mon Baybeeehhhh!!!" To "Bottoms Up!" Again, unique and CLASSIC stuff!!!

I wanna heeya Dave scattin' 'round, no?

hey fuckhead......i know very well those were done before. i am the farthest thing from trendy as possible. never judge a book by the cover you dumbfuck. i just simply stated that i would like to hear dave play those songs again because they kick ass,and i saw the 1984 tour as well as the fair warning tour at the los angeles forum. i was also at the us fest show in 1983.
do not ever call me trendy you fish stenched blood stained smelly fucking cunt.
so fuck you and the high horse you rode in on,bitch.
as for little texas and can't get this stuff no more, they have never been played live as far i can recall.
