I just got this Friday.
3 Disc set.

Disc 1 - Original Theatrical Release, and Extended Edition with 17 minutes of asdditional footage.
The additional footage is pretty fucking cool.
It is not just a bunch of gratuitous bullshit.

You first see it when Maximus visits the field hospital where his wounded and dying soldiers are being mangled by "doctors" after the battle in Germania.

All of the other footage is mainly dialogue that VERY MUCH fleshes out the story.

Particularly some stuff that shows Commodus (THAT GODDAMNABLE FUCK) as even eviler than originally depicted.

No wonder Joaquin Phoenix was nominated for an OScar for his performance.

Here are details from Amazon.com:

# Disc One: Extended Feature Film
# All-new, widescreen extended version of the film, including 17 minutes of additional footage
# Original Theatrical Version
# Introduction to extended edition by Director Ridley Scott
# "Are You Not Entertained?" Trivia track
# All-new audio commentary by Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe
# Disc Two: Documentary
# "Strength and Honor: Creating the World of Gladiator - New seven-part documentary (200 mins.)
# Disc Three: Behind the Scenes
# Production Design Featurette and Gallery
# Storyboard Demonstrations, Comparisons and Gallery
# Ridleygrams: Ridley Scott's Own Sketches of "Maximus' Journey"
# Costume Design Gallery
# Behind-the-scenes and Cast Portrait Galleries
# Visual Effects Explorations: Germania & Rome
# Abandoned Sequences

Very much worth it...it was 29 bucks at Wally World (WalMart).

One of my favorite movies of all time.
