Let's compile a list and then start a poll? Same could be done with villians as well.

I'll start:

Dirty Harry Calahan

Detective Billy Rosewood.

"Wow. You know, it says here that by the time the average American is fifty, he has five pounds of undigested red meat in his bowels."

My favourite is Across 110th street, with Anthony Quinn.

It's a wonderful movie, expecially for the number of blacks slaughtered and expolited.

This isn't from the movies, but my pop was a cop and I can appreciate this.

There's a grenade right in the title. The question, where are you, is such a funny question and it's in the title of the production, it's that important.

Irony is comedy. That's the grenade.

Right in the title you've got to ask yourself, what kind of cops would other cops have to "nicely" ask that question to.

Frank: It's true what they say: Cops and women don't mix. It's like eating a spoonful of Drano, sure it'll clean you out, but it'll leave you hollow inside.

Frank: You're part of a dying breed Hapsberg, like people who can name all 50 states. The truth hurts, doesn't it Hapsberg. Oh sure, not as much as jumping on a bicycle with the seat missing, but it hurts.

Jane: Then you're not still obsessed with our relationship?
Frank: Who's obsessed? I've forgotten all about it. It's ancient history, just like the democratic party.

Frank: It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Seems to paraphrase this quote from Red Dwarf:

Kryten (the android) loses Camille (female android) to Hector the blob, but is quite philosophical about it: "It's the old, old story - droid meets droid, droid becomes chameleon, droid loses chameleon, chameleon turns into blob, droid gets blob back again. Blob meets blob, blob goes off with blob and droid loses blob, chameleon and droid. How many times have we seen that story?"
