View Full Version : Evolutuion Is In The Bible, Says The Vatican

The Vatican has issued a stout defence of Charles Darwin, voicing strong criticism of Christian fundamentalists who reject his theory of evolution and interpret the biblical account of creation literally.
Cardinal Paul Poupard, head of the Pontifical Council for Culture, said the Genesis description of how God created the universe and Darwin's theory of evolution were "perfectly compatible" if the Bible were read correctly.

His statement was a clear attack on creationist campaigners in the US, who see evolution and the Genesis account as mutually exclusive.

"The fundamentalists want to give a scientific meaning to words that had no scientific aim," he said at a Vatican press conference. He said the real message in Genesis was that "the universe didn't make itself and had a creator".

This idea was part of theology, Cardinal Poupard emphasised, while the precise details of how creation and the development of the species came about belonged to a different realm - science. Cardinal Poupard said that it was important for Catholic believers to know how science saw things so as to "understand things better".

His statements were interpreted in Italy as a rejection of the "intelligent design" view, which says the universe is so complex that some higher being must have designed every detail.

I was raised Catholic, Hardrock. I was baptized as a baby, went through all the CCD classes up until 9th grade, went through five of the Catholic sacrements. I know their dogma inside and out. I can probably recite an average mass for you word by word and I haven't went to a Catholic church in a couple years.

They believe things that are not scripturally sound, and I can supply a rather large list fairly quickly. Man-made nonsense replacing the Word.

I can't believe how one cannot understand that science does exist for a reason and that yes, God did create this all, but perhaps that his/her creation is much more complex than the words of men from thousands of years ago could understand.

No, just trying to remain relevant in an age where information is more available and thus people have increased ability to think for themselves

Religion's only purpose now is for (as it always has) is for fear-mongering and for hating others with different beliefs.

Organized religion of all stripes is the problem, not faith itself.

So if they taught you everything you know about the Bible, and now you denounce them as not believing the things they teach, what makes you an authority if they taught you a pack of lies when you were growing up?

The Catholic Church were responsible for all biblical teaching from 325 A.D. onward.

Therefore if you believe in it as "scripture", you cannot deny their interpretation of it.

Yeah, I can deny it, because there was 300 years of teaching before the Councils began. Perhaps I follow gnostic teachings.

The Catholic church also teaches that Mary was a perpetual virgin and that she's the co-redeemer with Christ, both unbliblical. I can stop right there, as that alone is blaphemy against God.

The problem isn't God, it's people leaning to their own flawed understanding that will condemn them in the name of God.

If you aren't a believer then that is the seed you sow, and i'll pray for enlightenment on your behalf as i do my own.

You can't look to a sinning world for spiritual revelation and guidance until you learn to leave mortal thinking behind and open your heart to the spiritual salvation only Jesus will deliver.

Most people don't get it because they think as Adam and Eve were decieved to think, they are like God and control their own destiny.

I don't know what to believe anymore, the scripture has been altered and warped beyond anything that will save anyone so the truth has become near impossible to find, without God's intervetion that is.

At this point your only option is to know who's feet to fall before when the end comes.
Satan will appear and claim to be God, most will follow and not know any better.
But i'll be looking for the spirit that no longer lives in the flesh before i bow down.
I'll know by his command of the word if he is genuine or not, and it only takes one word out of place when the Son of Perdition recites his own scripture to prove him a false God.

You think God is testing us all now?
Just wait until the sound of the 6th Trump and you'll wish you had passed away the day before.
Those who have fallen before us need only to rise, the living will have to repent and endure the Tribulation that so many lost sheep think a "Rapture" will spare them of.

Incidentally, the vatican has no credibility with me. their corruption and sexual deviance issues make them all but Holy in my opinion.
I could care less what any Catholic has to say about anything.

Don't get me wrong, I do agree the Catholic Church does not teach according to what is in the Bible, even though they were the final authority as to what was left in the New Testament. It teaches what is politicially expedient for it to remain in power.

And has done so for 1700 years.

Mary is definitely not a co-redeemer.

That is almost like saying that Yoko Ono can write songs as well as John Lennon.

In both cases, they happened to be Jesus's & John's Bitch, riding on their coattails, so to speak.

And all that crap about the "Immaculate Conception" is not true either, yet you have millions who pray to "Mary, Mother Of Jesus".

As you said, I could go on and on and on, but I won't bother.

The Bible does not deny evolution. But it defintitely does not literally state:

1. And lo, The Lord Slaveth For Aeons, slowly changing the grains of sand to be ever more complex, until amoebas riseth from the dust, evolve into fishes, then evolve into amphibians, that evolved into air-breathing creatures, which eveolved into apes, which evolved into politicians, which involved into the race of Man, known in the Ancient Hebrew Tongue as "Adam".

People who believe the Earth was created in 7 days, (7 24-hour periods) have a screw loose.

Now....who invented "science"?

Dogs?

Did Rats discover Gravity?

Did Cats publish the theory of relativity?

Did Orangutans, Fruitbats, or Badgers split the atom or cure polio?

NO!

It was HUMAN BEINGS that did all of the above.

Over the past thousands of years, HUMAN BEINGS and their theories and discoveries of our Universe brought about the field of SCIENCE.

Right?

So who created Human Beings?

IF it is your belief that God Created Man, then there is NO ALTERNATIVE but that Science was created by (drum roll please) GOD!

Therefore the Cardinal was right on the money with his statements.
