HOLY SHIT...I forgot how hard that dude rips...he played a show with Black Oak Arkansas the day before my band did at a club in WV in the mid-80s (back when he was skinny!) We (me and the only two other hotshot guitarists in the state)were all floored. He ripped that hard even back then, but the B.O.A. gig didn't really show his full range......frickin' MONSTER. ;)

This thread made me download some Shawn Lane stuff...

To me, he lacks the fire that Yngwie has, or early Edward had...

I feel the same way about Steve Vai and Joe Satriani...

Awesome chops, but boring musically...

I cant remember one tune from any of those cats...

Sure, Yngwie has done the same thing over the years, but I can remember many of his songs, and my jaw still drops when I see him live, even though he's fat now...:D

...Last time I saw him live, he looked like a Weebil with stick legs! He still ripped though! I saw him at NAMM in January and he looked like he'd dropped a few lbs......

....I think it depends on his mood. I met him once at the Rainbow Bar & grill in '90 and he was an ass. Met him again a few years later and he was cool....

I think he gets misunderstood. He spent all his life practicing in his room. His social skills would have to be a little stunted. I ve heard the same thing. Some swear he's the nicest guy in the world others report he's a cock head. Hey the later are just envious cause yngwie is better than they are !!!!!:D
